for a 7th round pick. Quite a return for the 2nd round pick they wasted.

An article I read mentioned that he is only the second QB since the merger in 1970 to be drafted in the first two rounds and not play a snap in his first two seasons. But PSU fans will say it’s the Jets fault that he hasn’t gotten on the field.

I've said it before and I'll say it again because it is true.
Play QB for dear ole State and become a legend in Centre County.
But it ends there.
I never understood why the Jets drafted him that high in the first place.

But actually, that alone is pretty good, and way better than most people ever experience.

To be a part of the Oakland team he'll have to shave his head, or go for the mohawk, get tatooed, and arrested for something.

Better to come to Pittsburgh and be any quarterback in our history except one? After Marino it's probably be Cavanaugh and that's not really a spectacular professional playing career. Let's not forget the epic season the two Pitt quarterbacks had last year. Pitt has some positions that we can make snide comments about PSU NFL failures(*cough* running back *cough*), but QB isn't really one of them.

Van Pelt played as a backup for about 12 years, and was a starter a few times for stretches, I think with the Bills.
