I rooted for John and thought he was the better wrestler in HS. John and I wrestled at the downtown YMCA and I came away thinking I am better than this guy. Of course I was a weight class higher and there was a style difference. Anyway I know Wade and John wrestled at least once in college with Schalles winning again and Chatman punching him at the end of the match.
College is a different story. Schalles lost only once in college and John seemed to lose interest. I practiced with Bruce Trammed at Ohio U (the only person to beat Wade in college and did it decicevely) and I can say John didn't come close to Bruce. Bruce was a horse and should have won the nationals twice. (Bad things happen) I talked to Wade when I saw the nationals in 06 in Okla City with Thom67. Wade is still upset over losing to Bruce and thinks it was a fluke. He is wrong but we all have our disappointments. One of the things I love about sports is that there are always things to wonder "what if"
