I think this is a very good hire. A lot of people have been talking about his fundraising abilities, and that is obviously important. I watched a 20 minute interview with him from last year, and the guy really seems to get it. He found a nice landing spot for Utah State, and the two programs have really taken off. He really seems to understand young people and how the college game works in 2015. There was talk about uniforms, exposure, etc.
From an athletics standpoint, I think that Pitt is in a much better position. To go from Nordenbeg and Pederson to Gallagher and Barnes is a major improvement. Let's see what he can do here, but I think Gallagher got it right again .
I also heard that Barnes has a 6'8 son that is in ninth or tenth grade. Not sure if that is true or not, as someone might have just been joking about it. Regardless, I am sure that information is easy to discover.
Today will be a much better day for Pitt fans. One at a time.
