I'll be honest... I'm really encouraged for the season going forward. I'm not into moral victories and I'm not into excuses. The Iowa game was not a conference game, so at the end of the day the result is relatively meaningless unless anyone thought we were making a run at the playoff.

I think more importantly, the defense proved to themselves that they can play tough and aggressive football. Make no mistake, our defense went into a tough environment and beat Iowa up physically. Obviously I'm on record saying that Chaney stinks, and Peterman made some really bad decisions as well, but he showed that he's physically capable of making a lot of throws and I feel better about him than I did before the game. Seeing his first real significant action in an environment like that is tough, and it should prepare him for VT. I expect him to play much better, assuming he gets some help from the play calling. VT is a really big game but is certainly winnable. The bye comes at a great time for us to get healthy and regroup offensively. Looking forward to getting into the conference schedule
