I don't see any clue that Narduzzi is a good head coach other than his tantrum abilities. He's top 5 in that department.

First clue is he's put an end to us losing games to sub-par teams, unlike Chryst (YSU, Akron). That was a big first step. We now also beat the lower to mid-tier ACC teams with regularity. That was another clue. We are competitive in the big games with ranked teams and now just need to start winning a few of them. That will come. So I see lots of clues and signs that he will be successful here.

As for him ripping the officials....good. They deserved it last night. And I'm sure his players like to see him going to bat for them when the officials are clearly wrong, just as I'm sure the Pirates like to see Clint Hurdle get into the umps face arguing a bad call once in a while.

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I'm not concerned. I can't believe the defense has been this bad all season.

And he might be surprised but in terms of Pitt frustration Poker and I are way more similar than different. And Poker may indeed be correct. We might suck for the next 5 years. But I think any new coach deserves time. How much is the question. But certainly more than 1.5. He didn't exactly inherit a deep talent pool. Having said that I think a coach's job - above all else - is to put his guys in the best position to be successful. I believe that this year in that aspect Narduzzzi has failed miserably.

Or maybe because Pitt has been disappointing for over 3 decades and it becomes next to impossible to keep having the Pollyanna attitude that you and some others always want to have. This is another in a long line of 6-6, 7-5 seasons and I don't see any huge impact next season with mostly 3 star guys coming here.

And who is coming in next year that will all of a sudden turn the defense around? As far as I am concerned our recruiting for next year is not very good and that is year 3 of Narduzzi. I'm extremely optimistic with what I'm seeing and think that we're going to consistently compete for the Coastal within two seasons. Yes the CB play is frustrating and penalties hurt us last night but the linebacker and defensive line play is better than expected and we have kids coming through the pipeline to fill some of the holes that glare on defense.

Sounds right, but he did state in an earlier thread that he was happy in his life other than Pittsburgh sports. I worked with some people like some of our posters, miserable constantly and always complaining and placing blame. It's just that they kept it among workers and didn't show it to the public. Our boss once made a statement to me, that 'some people aren't happy unless their miserable'. I laughed out loud at that. Profound statement.

I'm not sure about factual basis but I see upgrades at safety, the CBs will have a year under their belt so I think we upgrade at that position, we should be OK at DE and the middle of the line with the way the inside backers are played so I'd say overall the defense is upgraded.

As for the offense it's hard replacing DJ and Bis but we shall see how JJS responds. The backfield's in good shape and the receivers will have a year under their belt so I just think that's an upgrade too. QB should develop as the year progresses so 2018 looks good but with the way Canada's handling that position this year I look forward to little more mobility at the position and you just never know how 2017 is going to go down.

As for recruiting I just don't agree with 90% of what I read on this board and the services. They are doing alright and will be competitive and competing for the Coastal in two years with what they already have on the roster and I think they only get better.

So those are the facts according to my opinion.

You may be right. With this fan base the only way to get more wins is to pay 5-6 mil to a top head coach, and another 4 mil to assistants with another 2 mil going to the recruiting budget. Now if you don't see this happening we better see if the Duzz can pull some magic and through hard work get us some better talent and more wins.

My parents have season tickets to Pitt basketball so I try to go to 5 or 6 games a year. Pitt football 1 or 2 a year most years. This year it will be 1. And I am out on the west coast a lot so that counts for something.

Not only that, if you look at the rankings all three losses are to ranked teams. If you would like to be positive, I know on this board that's a stretch, but we beat PSU who is ranked. PSU and WVU have played a total of three ranked teams combined. People are funny, when PSU beat Ohio State a lot of people on here were panicked as though they beat Pitt. PSU is ranked in the top twenty because they beat one ranked team and the rest of their schedule other than Michigan is a complete joke. Same as WVU, up to this week they have played no one, TCU is not what they were the last few years. Pitt is doing right now what many should expect them to do, beat the teams they should beat and hang with the teams they should not beat. The wins against better teams will come, may not be this season, but they will come. Those that have seen the last 30 years of Pitt football should have patience, you have dealt with this for 30 years, what's another one?
