Sec, ACC, Big 10 top three in latest RPI

Yeah, that site also has Navy @ 9, FSU @ 5, PSU @ 12, and Colorado @ 24.

Certainly a ton of outliers on there. I can post a rating that has Pitt @ 8 and Oklahoma @ 47, doesn't mean it's accurate.

Can you post the link? I'd love to see that!

Yeah but the one I posted is legit and used for RPI
Unless you mean the one the formula they use in basketball, but that only applies to basketball. The NCAA doesn't even use that same formula for the other sports that they use RPI internally for. Your website's opinions are so influential that they have 3 teams in their top 10 that aren't in the AP, Cocahes or Playoff committe top 10.

If you mean influential, then how about the people in charge of the formulas for the former BCS ratings (but not their necessarily their BCS formulas because they weren't allowed to use scores).
Massey - PAC, SEC, ACC, BIG 10, BIG 12
Sagarin - PAC, SEC, ACC, BIG 12, BIG 10
Anderson - SEC, Big 10, ACC, PAC, BIG 12
Billingsly - SEC, PAC, BIG 10, ACC, BIG 12
Colley - SEC, ACC, PAC, BIG 10, BIG 12
Wolfe - SEC, PAC, ACC, BIG, BIG 12

edit: deleted first sentence as it was confusing and misleading.

Yeah, but RPI is a silly measure when teams play 30 games in basketball, and all of it's many flaws are magnified when teams are only playing 12 games.

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Winner.

I actually don't hate RPI as a college hoops ranking (the adjustments for road wins and home losses in recent year are a definite improvement).

But it's terribly flawed from a college football POV.

Western Michigan at #4?

That makes no sense... 'my wesites opinions'... the AP and Coaches poll is 100% opinion, no statistical data at all. Is the leagues after each dash the order they are rated in? So, Sagarin has the Big 10 last?

I meant that anyone can develop an algorithm for ranking teams. Also, yes, the polls are all subjective. The RPI is extremely limited, especially when it only has 12 games to work with. That's why you never hear anyone mention RPI when talking about football.

You are correct about Sagarin. I listed the conferences in the order of power rankings given by each of those 6 rating systems. They are listed at the bottom of the composite.

You never hear anyone mention RPI when talking about anything other than college basketball, because as a system to rank teams it's a really dumb way to do it. If the NCAA would stop using the RPI no one would ever pay any attention to it ever again.
