Also, they said during the Texas/TAMU game that it broke the record for any football game ever besides the Super Bowl in terms of average secondary market price. Over $1000 on average per ticket. So much money down there. Imagine being that guy who sits at the 30 yard line, lower level. Probably sold his pair of 4 tickets for $12,000.

I don't even know where they play these games. Is ACCCG still in Charlotte and B10 still in Indy? Does Oregon really have much of a fanbase by Big 10 standards? They play in a stadium with only like 50k seats.

Oregon: I could see a kind of "been there, done that" mentality for a conference championship with people saving their money/energy/PTO for the CFP.

Penn State: Surprising they wouldn't drive the price up a bit more. That's not a bad drive, and they're not used to playing for conference championships. This might be the last one for a long time. But, again, they're in the CFP either way.

SMU: I think all 10,594 of their fans will fans show.

Clemson: Surprised they're not driving up the price amongst themselves. They need this win to get into the CFP, and it's been a while for them (well, by their own standards). Factor in the proximity, and I'd have guessed this to be a pricier ticket because of them.

The SEC fans are stupid. Or they just have money and time to burn. Both of those teams are going to be in the playoffs, anyway.

Listening to a couple of podcast and they talked about little interest in a game where both teams are already in the playoff.

Do you spend your money on going to conference championship or save it for a playoff game.

It’s the first time they’ve played in 13 years, every Jim Bob and Joe Jack with some cash wanted to be there.

Not surprised by the low ticket prices, why would Oregon fans want to fly to Indianapolis when they’ll be playing in the Rose Bowl in a few weeks, possibly another bowl after that, and possibly the Final after that. For the UPS fans why drive to Indy when you’ll most likely be hosting a more important home game in 2 weeks.

I was speaking to a fan of a playoff team who's traveled to big games in the past including the National Championship and he was saying the prices for the playoff games at the neutral sites are so high they'll only pay to go to the Championship game if his team makes it. I'd assume a lot are in similar situations.

Most PSU fans didn't plan on a conference championship. Sort of fell in their lap. Traveling to big games is something that the PSU fan base does well with but somehow promoters always eat up all of the allotment and repackage it as a group tour. The fan base seems to be okay with this approach so the people who don't want to do that are the only ones on the secondary market and they'd rather sit at home for this one.

Honestly, already seeing some apologists saying that the game means more to Oregon, or something. But it's another top opponent that Franklin will probably crap the bed against and that stings. Would be comical if Oregon beat them badly enough that it knocks them out of a home game. Probably not but there is a real danger their first CFP game gets more difficult.

Oregon is the better team, but like I said in another thread... I'm afraid they go vanilla.

Would you rather have:

Option 1:
First round bye
Play the winner of Ohio State vs Tennessee

or

Option 2:
First round game against a Big 12 scrub
Second round game against Boise State

I know playing an extra game is a big deal, but I feel like you're almost guaranteed to get to the final four in the second option.

Something tells me that PSU won't get off that easy but I get your point.

Not to beat the dead horse but this can pretty easily be explained by the fact that there's not much on the line for the B1G game and everything on the line for the ACC. Not to mention one of the teams playing in the ACC title game is practically in Charlotte's back yard.

An Oregon loss might get them almost a free pass to the Natty. Lanning is kinda nutty so I wonder if he rests starters, especially if Texas loses. An Oregon loss means PSU is the 1 and Oregon is the 5.

Oregon's path to the natty would be Big 12, Boise, PSU/OSU/Ten.

If they beat PSU, its bye, OSU/Ten, then Texas (if Texas loses) or ND (if Texas wins)

Yeah, when you put it like that... I'd be punting on 1st down.

And by playing your 2nd string vs PSU, you learn their tendencies for a potential rematch in the Final Four. #1 PSU would be an underdog vs 8 OSU/9 Ten but they COULD beat them. And if I'm Lanning and you told me that we could lose to PSU while resting our starters but play them again in the semis, that would be a dream.

By the same token, is there any incentive for PSU to win this? They are the 5 right now and would get that awesome Big 12 & Boise path to the semis.

Well if Texas loses they would bump PSU out of the #5 spot. Might also be possible that 11-2 PSU falls behind 10-2 OSU given they lost to them at home. Unless this falls under the umbrella of the committee not penalizing teams for playing in conference championships over other teams.

Do you think Penn State could lose the #5 spot if they get blown out?

Yes. Even if they lose by a reasonable amount, I think they could fall behind ND, OSU, and maybe Ten for the simple reason that they'd now own 2 losses with only 1 good win and that's home vs Illinois, which really isnt a good win. However, I dont think they are going to penalize CCG losers which is good for SMU but I dont agree with it

I can't see how any Clemson would be excited taking this team to the playoffs. It's better than not going, but once you've been there and done that fairly recently, it kinda sucks to be there with a team that has no legit chance to win it.

Lets say they are the 12 and play PSU or ND. Is that a game that's impossible to win? I would think Clemson fans feel their team SHOULD win that game. Then you get Boise.
