Secret Scrimmage

Had one last year vs Georgetown. Are they having/had one this year?

If there is one the info will leak out, no doubt

The word was that we were playing Cincy. I would think it would be this coming weekend.

Probably not, because there is an open practice on Saturday for certain donors.

I would think it's more likely to be the following weekend. Exhibition game next Tuesday the 22nd, secret scrimmage on the 26th or 27th, first real game November 4.

Yeah, got the invite today. Should have scheduled it last weekend instead of this. For us who travel far for games, it would have been nice to do both. Can’t make it this weekend.

They usually do it to coincide with a weekend when the Football Team isn't playing.
These special events are never scheduled with out-of-towners in mind. It is just the way it has always been.

I know it isn't entirely up to Pitt at least during the conference season, but I really wish the coordinate some of their scheduling to group games together on weekends for people to make more of a day of it. I loved when they had, essentially, double header women's and men's hoops games on weekends with a nice break in between to run down to Peters. Sometimes there was a triple header with an early swim meet or something.

When the ACC did that season-opening game a few years ago, Louisville basketball and football both played at Miami within a day or 2 of each other. I have been saying the ACC needs to play a fair number of conference games in November to prepare the teams for the non-conference games which are far more important to the committee. I'm sure there is a math formula out there that some nerd can figure out but your OOC games matter are probably like 10%-20% more important than your conference games. I dont like that but its reality. Remember the back and forth TD and I had about UVa. Their 11 game non-con SOS was much stronger than ours. Our 20 game ACC SOS was much stronger than theirs ans our overall SOS was stronger but they got in mostly due to their strong non-con SOS.

Anyway, back to what I was saying, I definitely think the ACC should schedule football/basketball doubleheaders....especially out west. Like Pitt goes to Cal & Stanford in bball next year and plays at Stanford in football. Why not play @ Stanford bball on Nov 7, @ Stanford football on November 8, and @ Cal bball on Nov 10?
