A few items of interest.

First, Ayden Owens (Arkansas) from North Allegheny just tied the collegiate record in the decathlon with 8457. The record was held by Ashton Eaton, who you may know as a two-time gold medalist and long-time WR holder. Ayden's future is very, very bright.

Second, Che Nwabuko's 10.17 would have qualified him into the 100m final (last qualifer was Matthew Boling's 10.18), which is crazy if you consider just how deep the NCAA talent pool is. Che's 20.53 200m would have gotten him through the sectionals and to the meet, but he'd have finished 15th in the prelims.

Last, nothing to note from Pitt's side. Two athletes qualified, one didn't start and the other fouled out of the hammer with no mark. My feelings on the state of Pitt track are well-known, so no need to belabor it.

Men's finals are on tomorrow night -- I think on ESPN2 -- and is actually a pretty good watch with RG3 and John Anderson commentating. RG3 once held the high school record in the 400mh so he knows a little something about mixing football and track.
