Pitt had 21 scholarship seniors on the roster in 2020:
Kenny Pickett
A.J. Davis
Taysir Mack
Tre Tipton
DJ Turner
Lucas Krull
Jake Zilinskas
Bryce Hargrove
Jimmy Morrissey
Keldrick Wilson
Patrick Jones
Rashad Weaver
Keyshon Camp
Phil Campbell
John Petrishen
Chase Pine
Damarri Mathis
Jason Pinnock
Damar Hamlin
Cal Adomitis
Alex Kessman
On Senior Day, 10 players were introduced, which implied that they were planning to leave:
DJ Turner
Jason Pinnock
Rashad Weaver
Phil Campbell
Bryce Hargrove
Alex Kessman
Damar Hamlin
Kenny Pickett
Jimmy Morrissey
Patrick Jones
Since then, Pickett and Campbell have both announced they will be returning for another season. From what I have gathered, the other 8 are still planning to move on. That means 13 seniors are returning for 2021:
Kenny Pickett
A.J. Davis
Taysir Mack
Tre Tipton
Lucas Krull
Jake Zilinskas
Keldrick Wilson
Keyshon Camp
Phil Campbell
John Petrishen
Chase Pine
Damarri Mathis
Cal Adomitis
My expectation is that the NCAA will rule that those guys who come back don't count against the 85-man scholarship limit, although the exception might be Mathis, who will technically be a redshirt senior - and not a post-eligible player like the others (the other seniors on that list have used all of their eligibility over the last four or five years). I'm guessing Mathis will have to count as one of the 85, but otherwise, the rest of those seniors won't count.
Obviously Pickett is the big return, and I think Campbell is a good one, too. I had high expectations for Krull in 2020, but injuries held him back, so now those expectations will carry over to 2021. I think having Adomitis back is a nice luxury, and Mathis obviously adds a boost to the CB ranks. And if Camp can stay healthy, he can make an impact at DT.
