Maybe this has already been discussed, but on Sept. 19 both Pitt (at Iowa) and PSU (vs. Rutgers) play on BTN at the same time 8 p.m. Those that have DirecTV are in good shape, but those with regular cable might be iced out of seeing the game depending on how the BTN coverage map works. Along those lines, does BTN put Pitt or PSU on the main channel in the Pittsburgh area? Will be interesting.

The game is only on BTN in Iowa. Everywhere else in the nation, Pittsburgh included, its on a non-HD BTN alternate channel. If you live in a BT market, more than likely your cable company gets those alternate channels. If you dont live in a BT market, more than likely your cable comoany does not.

The Big Ten could have put this game on at 4:00 but Delaney did this deliberately to screw Pitt for recruiting BT schools to come with them to the ACC.

SMF I have comcast and years ago the big 10 had a bunch of channels for these types of games, but I looked recently and can't find them. Any idea where they might be located? I might have got it with the espn game plan but that doesn't exist anymore

I have Comcast and they are 471 and 472. Pitt/Iowa will be on one of those channels.

If you dont live in a BT market, you probably dont get the alternate channels.

As I said, this is all Delaney sticking it to Pitt. As evidence of that, consider the BT's NATIONAL BTN 3:30 game is Wisconsin/Troy. Yet, they are relegating Pitt/Iowa to an alternate channel (except in Iowa) at 8. Obviously Pitt/Iowa is much better than the Wisky cakewalk but Delaney wanted to screw Pitt.

Comcast has two alternate BTN stations.

I live in the heart of the enemy so I get the big 10. Thanks for those stations. Most of the time my comcast completely aligns with my in laws that live in Pittsburgh

In my area, Comcast Mid Atlantic, Baltimore County, BTN has 3 channels, right next to each other, 713, 714 and 715, and the 3 always have the exact same thing on.... ON ALL THREE, ALL THE TIME, makes no sense? I'm hoping to see the Pitt game, I didn't realize there was a possibility it might not be on at that time?

I live in Maryland, so that is a B10 area, but like I said, the 3 BTN channels always just have the same thing on all 3, ALWAYS!
I think they have the 3 stations so they can air 3 different games at the same time. The 3 stations do have the same content on when they aren't airing games. I guess we will find out at game time.

The only time there will be different programming is if there are 2 or more BTN games on at the same time like there will be at 8PM next Saturday. 99.9% of the time, those channels have the same stuff on them. They arw only there for the "overflow" football games.

I searched for those channels this morning and they don't exist for me, though i swear I used to get them. At worst I will watch on my phone

What cable company do you have?

The BTN app is another option but I'm not too familiar with what they make available on thete.

How on earth is it going to be Pitt's fault?
I'm not saying this is Pitt's fault but things like this seems to happen with Pitt. What other power 5 team would play another power 5 team and have their broadcast only available in Std-Def in their home market. Only Pitt!

Seriously? What is in the water out there in Pennsylvania? All Big10 fans understand that PSU fans are into conspiracy theories that alway involve the conference trying to screw the Nittwhitnay Lions no matter what the situation...and now it has spread to PITT fans too?

Sean Miller Fan is probably being sarcastic. I say probably because you would have to know Sean Miller fan.

Why is Pitt scheduling games that fans will have some difficulty watching on TV? If this is the case, why should we ever schedule Big Ten teams if SEC and Big 12 games will be an easier game to watch?

If Pitt had not tried to recruit BT schools to go with them to the ACC, this would be the 3:30 national BTN game. However, its Delaney's payback so he gave Wisky/Troy the national window and relegated Pitt to the SD alternate channel. I feel bad for Iowa fans not living in Iowa as they also have to pay the price for Delaney's vengeance.

I would love for you to explain to me why the Big Ten made the business decision to show Wisconsin/Troy nationally at 3:30 but decided to show Pitt/Iowa on the alternate channel which will get horrible ratings. Doesnt Pitt/Iowa do better at 3:30 than Wiaconsin/Troy?

Iowa probably wanted to play at night. Likely helps their gate.

Given that the 14 conference institutions own 49% of the Big Ten Network, it's fair to say the Network works for those 14 schools. Not the other way around. So that means Iowa gets what they want, even if it means 2 TV night games.

I'm not surprised nobody else answered my question. They can say how my conspiracy theory was wrong but offer no idea on why Wisky/Troy was picked for the national game.

As for Iowa deciding on this, I dont think the extra 3,000 tickets (if that many) they will sell if the game is at 7 local instead of 2:30 local is enough to offset alienating all Iowa fans not living in Iowa who either wont get to watch the game or watch it in SD. And really, how many more tickets does Iowa sell at night?
