Will someone please explain to me how it works with specialized servers like Flood, Meyer, and Griffin? Are they filling in for Bre and Klika? Anyone else? And are they all equally good that they use three rather than just one or two?

Its kinda complicated but it has to do with how subs and rotations work. There are 3 front row spots and 3 back row spots. Every change of serve, each player shifts a spot. So let’s say Bre Kelley starts in the front left. She can play 3 sets up front (left, middle, right), but then the next 3 sets, she would have to serve once and play 3 spots in the back row. Clearly that doesn’t happen, so what you do is sub someone to serve for Bre, and someone else subs off a different spot to replace her (like if Klika was moving to the front row).

Someone more well versed can probably explain it better lol

This might explain it better, as Pitt runs a 5-1 rotation (system) - as mike explained, the primary reason for the substitution for Bre is to prevent her from having to stay in the back row for three "shifts", as she is not as effective a player in the back row or at serving

You can’t use the same designated server to serve for more than one position/player. Cat can’t serve for Bre and then serve for Klicka. She can serve for Jones when Jones rotates to the back row. because Jones came in at Bre’s spot.

Recently, Meyers has been serving for Klicka. She supplanted Griffin there. Griffin sometimes serves for Stafford or Babcock if Fisher gives one a break. But if she serves for one, she can’t later serve for the other.

So, does that explain why Cat will sometimes wear the libero jersey? To indicate that she is serving for Emmy? I am still a bit foggy in that regard ...

Cat wears the libero jersey because you can dress two liberos and rotate them in without it counting as a sub

Bre and Ryla don’t play the same spot in the rotation. They play opposite each other as the two middles. Traditionally, one middle would need to serve and the libero would serve for the other middle. In Pitt’s case, Cat serves as the libero (replacing Emmy), and Meyer serves for Ryla
