Seven former Pitt football standouts will showcase their talents in upcoming senior all-star games.
Offensive lineman Connor Dintino, defensive end Dewayne Hendrix and linebacker Elijah Zeisewill play in the SPIRAL Tropical Bowl on January 13. The game, held in Daytona Beach, Fla., will kick off at 10 a.m., and can be viewed via FloFootball.com.
Three Panthers will play in the 94thEast-West Shrine Game on January 19: running backs Darrin Hall and Qadree Ollison as well as offensive lineman Alex Bookser. The East-West Shrine Game, held at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., has a 3 p.m. kickoff and will be televised live by NFL Network.
Also on January 19, fullback George Aston will play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl held in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. The game will be televised live by FS1 at 5 p.m.
Dintino (Mashpee, Mass./Choate Rosemary Hall [Conn.]) finished his career as a four-year letterman. An Honorable Mention All-ACC offensive lineman as a senior, he started all 14 games in 2018, including 11 at guard and three at center.
Hendrix (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) was a fixture on Pitt's starting defensive front the past two seasons. As a senior, he was second on the team with 4.5 sacks and also had 29 total stops, five TFLs, six QB hurries, a forced fumble and fumble recovery.
An invaluable part of the Panthers' linebacker corps, Zeise (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was a two-year starter at Money linebacker. As a senior, he compiled 48 tackles, four tackles for loss, a sack and two forced fumbles.
Pitt boasted two 1,000-yard rushers in the same season for the first time in program history. Ollison (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Canisius) netted 1,213 yards with 11 touchdowns on 194 carries (6.3 avg.), while Hall (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) had 1,144 yards and 10 TDs on 153 attempts (7.5 avg.). Both tailbacks were All-ACC honorees.
Bookser (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) played in 50 games on Pitt's offensive line, including 39 starting assignments. He displayed valuable versatility, starting at both guard and tackle during his career. He received Honorable Mention All-ACC recognition each of his final three seasons.
Aston (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) is regarded as one of the top fullback prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft. A devastating blocker, he also scored 14 career touchdowns at Pitt.
