What is Hamlin gonna do? Will we lose Miller, gain Camp, get one of those stud WRs we are after? Will we keep our existing class together through signing day? Will we add a guy or two that wasn't on the Lair's radar?

It will be an interesting weekend.

yep. one thing for sure, hamlin and the coaches will get a lot of quality time this weekend. will be interesting to see how miller's visit with richt went last night. when i looked yesterday miami only had 14 verbals.

i still believe hamlin is pitt bound.

Yes, most exciting for me in a long time. We must remember that whatever happens, our staff has been great. The time and effort the staff has put in to compete for the many high-profile guys has been amazing. If, on LOI day, we get a few more and keep our own, then we will be exhilarated. If the opposite happens, we know the staff did everything they could to make the class great. Nevertheless, Pitt's future is bright, and all of us should bask in the moments.

No question about that. I can't ever remember this kind of effort from a Pitt staff, maybe Gottfried but we didn't have social media and the web to be able to track their efforts then. All I know is that staff brought in some badass recruiting classes..

Gottfriend was ok but Wannstedt did ok too, but no one could beat Jackie Sherrill, Narduzzi is working as hard if not harder!

I have not really followed recruiting before; the last class I recall hearing about was the Jon Baldwin class some years ago. Usually I just wait for fan day to meet the new Panthers.

However, this year I've seemingly been updated on the recruiting trail every day, by multiple sources, including Duzz himself. He AND his coaches recognize that social media is an important tool to not only connect with recruits but to connect with fans. The glimpse into their recruiting efforts shows everyone else how hard they're willing to work for future student athletes and fans alike. That type of work ethic is fundamental (not exclusive) to success and both groups seem to be taking notice.

Sorry if this all sounds like a broken record here (I'm new to the site!), but the Duzz got me fired up for next year. Hail to Pitt! :)

Should be a crazy weekend no doubt. Recruiting is now a year round process and the rules need to change to reflect this. I know the blue bloods like OSU & Bama do not want an early signing period but it is over due now!

Whatever happens, this staff has left no stone unturned. They've double backed with all of their highly valued recruits (Pine, McVittte to name a few) to ensure that they stayed committed. They've aggressively gone after other high end recruits who were being wooed by the Blue Bloods (OSU, Michigan, etc).........Not sure they will get every one of the kids who has yet to commit but I feel pretty good about them ending up with enough quality in this class to begin the transformation of the football program. Remember a lot of these recruiting relationships take years to develop. These guys have only been wooing these kids to Pitt for less than a year. This is a great start for year one. Next year should be even better.

This group makes the prior crew look like a bunch of pikers when it comes to recruiting. Pretty sure this explains the Carnival Barkers bizzaro behavior because he now recognizes that Pitt no longer has a bunch of pushovers when it comes to recruiting.

Agree, and great post, I know very little about recruiting and my info is too old, I depend on other posters and they know it far more! Appreciate watching and learning from reading their Posts!

Looks like, Pitt is building a Football Program on the Michigan State-Wisconsin Model that has to take on Bigger Football Programs that have so many Revenue Resources for Recruiting, but Winning is dependent on solid, determined, and discipline Coaching!

Barry Alvarez proved that in 1990s at Wisconsin, Kirk Ferentz followed at iowa, and Dantonio did the same at Michigan State and two of them played in the Big Ten Championship Game not Michigan or Ohio State?

Coach Pat Narduzzi knows how to do that too and if it happen at Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan State it can happen at Pitt with Great Coaching that will win more and more every year and Recruits will come to learn to win the Narduzzi Way!

Watch and See and Believe!

Right on, and great post, it is exciting, and it will only get better at Pitt with Coach Pat Narduzzi, and he will make a Pitt a Top 25 Team and Top 25 Program!

Exactly, and great observation, nothing as been like this at Pitt since Jackie Sherrill, in my opinion! You hit on how Coach Pat & Staff go about with such Energy and Confidence they are not concern about anything except going after Recruits they know they can coach and turn into Great Football Players to fit their Systems?

Not sure they will get every one of the kids who has yet to commit but I feel pretty good about them ending up with enough quality in this class to begin the transformation of the football program. Excellent observation and analysis, you are CORRECT Sir! Last year they came late and ended up with just a 66th Class, but look what happen, ACC Freshmen Of The Year on Offense and Defense!!! Now that Coaching Excellence from a 66th Recruiting Class! What was Coach pat's Respponse...."We Are Happy With the Recruits We Got At Pitt!" Now Pitt is recruiting in the Top 20-30 Again?

This group makes the prior crew look like a bunch of pikers when it comes to recruiting. Pretty sure this explains the Carnival Barkers bizzaro behavior because he now recognizes that Pitt no longer has a bunch of pushovers when it comes to recruiting.
Again, great posting and analysis as well. I am glad the Lair has attracted such Graet Posters and Pitt Fans, and Pitt has Chancellor Gallagher, Coach Narduzzi & Staff and A.D. Barnes!

PITT IS BACK TO PITT IS IT!

disagree about it being a crazy weekend. i look for us to add a few with the possibility of losing one. were near the limit on how many we can add. its not like we have 15 guys visiting with 12 open spots.

vg - The crazy part is that the caliber of recruit is high so 2 to 4 in either direction makes a difference. It is not the sheer # of recruits.

Wanny did OK. I hav always contended that his recruiting was overrated, especially when you look at the lack of essential talent-like QBs and OLs--on his watch. He couldn't touch Gottfried. Not even close. At the same time, rumor has it there may have been some "Golden Panther" shenanigans that contributed to those Gottfried top 5 classes. After all, how else do you get 3 of the top 5 LB prospects in the e country, along with the 2 top national DL prospects in one class?

Stay tuned...same Bat Time...same Bat Channel!

Well, he helped coach Revis into the NFL with his talent, brought Shady to Pitt when he was headed to Penn State, found Dion Lewis in New Jersey, and Aaron Donald is an unusual Star that any College Program or Pro Team is proud of, and all were Freshmen Sensations but good coaching can correct some less than stellar Recruiting. Yet, you are right about QBs and OLs, major problem for Coach Dave that cost him a few 10 win seasons!

Anyway one looks at Wannstedt, he did rebuild Pitt Recruiting Ties to High Schools and did recruit in the Top 20 to 40 that caused a Buzz for Pitt again! Also, made sure Pitt Paid more for Assistant Coaches!

Yet, I concur Wannstedt Coaching could have been better on Game Day Preparation, Half Time Adjustments, and should have won 1 to 2 more Games and 10 Game Seasons!

I thought it was a combination of Wannstedt Coaching and lack of Discipline & Focus on and off the field, but he did improve Recruiting and Coaching Assistant Quality, better than Harris before him and Graham/Chryst after him?

Wannstedt did help Players with improving their Individual Talent to learn the Game, but like you said, his Teams could have been better too, but I blame that on his coaching more than his recruiting, just an opinion, not gospel!

Anyway, I think we agree, Pitt has a Head Coach now that can do both and Chancellor and A.D. to help him with the same vision, and Wannstedt did not have that from Pederson! But Wannstedt needed to improve his own coaching too!
