Should Burton and Odukale both be starting?

I like Odukale, but not as a PG. I think he's more effective when he's handling the ball less. But with only two real Gs on the team now, I'm not sure if you should try to maximize the time they are both in the game. Do you think Capel should regularly alternate them, play them together as much as possible and hope they stay out of foul trouble, or try to mix these two options as much as he can?

What exactly do you like Odukale as..? He doesn’t know how to shoot a basketball

What’s your deal with Femi dude? Are you the one who hit him with a car?

Seriously though, Femi’s shooting percentages are basically no different than Xavier’s freshman and sophomore years. You can definitely argue that Femi isn’t as good a point guard as X, but he’s not even close to the worst shooter on scholarship on this roster.

Femi shot 46.5% for the entire season last year as a freshmen coming off a broken arm. Not only is that better than any full season by X, there are a total of 2 guards total dating all the way back to 2011 when Pitt earned its last 1 seed that averaged a shooting percentage like that for an entire season from a guard.

Ashton Gibbs as a junior as a 1st team all Big East selection, and Chris Jones as a senior. That's your list in the last 11 years of all Pitt players.

No other player had a shooting percentage that high. Not Wanamaker. Not Gilbert Brown. Not Toney, Not Woodall, Not Patterson, Not Robinson. Not anybody else. Technically, you could throw in Cameron Wright 1 single year, but he was a small role bench player.

I can understand why bballinsider hates on Femi. He's hated on the kid as soon as he committed because he kept doubling down on stupid by telling people how bad he thinks Femi is.

What your infatuation of hate with Femi is, unless you are connected to or are bballinsider, is really weird.

I don’t hate on the kid I’m telling the truth. He’s a MM + PG. nothing wrong with that. Not good enough for Pitt and not better than XJ who frankly himself wasn’t good enough either.

you’re the big numbers guy. He averaged 5 shots per game last year and is at 10 shots per game this year and his percentages are already down. So he’s not an elite scorer, he’s not an elite athlete and he’s not an elite creator. What exactly do you want me to praise? Cheering for his teammates in a win over mighty Towson?

At seasons end...

Not now, 2 games from now, or 2 months from now, but at seasons end.

If these 4 players: Femi, Big John, Nate, Will, finish the year with an ORTG offensive efficiency rating of 95-100 + each as 4 freshmen because they all get the extra covid year back, we will have a very solid foundation in place to win for the future.

As it stands today,

Big John: 107
Nate: 106
Jeffress-85
Femi-80

Ill wait to see how it finishes at years end on these 4. Femi was a 95 last year at seasons end. Those 4 are the building blocks. Throw Collier in there if you want but he doesn't play enough yet to count.

Lol John and Santos are the only two that are ACC caliber starting potential. The talent is really bad on this team

Totally disagree. But i still love you too.

If I am weird for telling it like it is (Femi doesn’t really do anything well and cannot shoot a basketball) then I guess I’ll be weird 😂😂😂 I’m not going to blindly praise a kid that wouldn’t even be on this roster at all if Jeff Capel could do his job and you know, recruit actual basketball talent to Pitt

I don’t have a “deal with Femi” bud, I simply am saying that he is not an ACC level guard , and he cannot shoot a basketball, both are true

He's got fine %'s he's just struggling now going to the hoop.

Drew I have been seeing you post on here for awhile and I do respect your opinion but cmon, he has some of the worst form I’ve ever seen…you cannot tell me that you are confident anytime Femi rises up for a jumper beyond 8 feet…he just cannot shoot, the best evidence I can give you is the free throw line…where he is absolutely awful because..he can’t shoot

Femi had the 2nd highest midrange shooting percentage on last years team for the entire season. That's on a team that includes Horton, Sibande, X, Toney, and Champ who is playing in the NBA. He was a 40% midrange shooter last year.

The only ground that you have to stand on with this is bad free throw shooting. Femi was a 33% 3 point shooter last year as a freshmen. He's a 40% 3 point shooter currently.

Femi has 2 primary issues through 4 games this year. Turnovers are way to high, and poor free throw shooting. He needs to shoot the 3 ball more, not less.

Actually i prefer him shooting 3s. Not 2s or foul shots lol.
His numbers dictate he should shoot 3s more.
Much like how BK was. It's a shame the psychological damage that happens at the line.
But from 3. Greenlight until proven otherwise. He has a way better % than lots of players we never complained about shooting.
He shot over 40% from 3 in prep.
He's above 35% now and that's respectable.

Pitt should petition the NCAA to pass on Femi’s FTs and take a 5 second shot clock with a backcourt inbound.
