When I saw Okidale give
Hugley five while ball was
in play stunned me. Of
course he was immediately
strpped of the ball when
he did that. Good God!
You wanna slap five, do it
during time outs or when
ball is dead. THAT was a
first.

That is why when folks say things like he hasn’t lost the team and these guys love each other I just cringe. They are far from a smart basketball team and play worse than their actual talent level.

Yea....I hope Capel reams them for doing that... Maybe they can transfer and find another coach that will put up with it.... SHEESH!

What does one have to do with the other ?

It’s a good thing none of us has ever done something stupid !

Now if they do it again that’s another thing .

Kind of like Chase Claypool dancing as the clock ran out as Big Ben was trying to line up to clock the ball! LOL :)

We are being sold on the fact that these guys all get along so well and the reference is that of course we will eventually win because of that. However they have no basketball knowledge which is way more important than how much 5hey like each other.

You’re attempting to connect two unconnected dots -
It was a swing and a miss - move on

It was a terrible play, bur what does that have to do with losing the team?

Nothing
But he’s a a bit slow to recognize it
You are incredibly dense. Tell me where did I imply it has anything to do with him losing the team. I will tell you. Nowhere. Jesus Pitt pharmacy must be a special kind of stupid. Failed pre med students.

I never said it had anything to do with him losing the team.
Your reply to the op about the brain dead turnover .
“That is why when folks say things like he hasn’t lost the team and these guys love each other I just cringe.”
You connected those dots for no reason .
Then go touchy when it was pointed out
Ya whiffed , move on

Yeah, it's like Hugs getting the T for hanging on the rim after a dunk.

It isn't like there is an established normative system w upperclass kids who were taught better and can teach these kids.

So, they are more likely to do this kind of stupid stuff.

Let me explain this to you like you are a three year old. The narrative that we are being fed right now from the Capel camp and supporters are how much this team loves each other and that in spite of the losses they are still with the coach.

In the years prior Mr. Three year old, the message from Jeff was how difficult the personalities were and that there seem to be kids jealous of each other. So that narrative was to lead you to believe OH MY GOSH JEFF IS LOSING BECAUSE THE KIDS ARE BAD KIDS.

So, this year’s narrative is to tell us what a great bunch of kids we have and they all like each other AND THIS SHOULD BE WHY JEFF NOW GETS A BREAK in spite of the losing.

So, me, being a very astute and brilliant mind see the kind of basketball being played and the brain dead errors like the low five turnover and realize that the NARRATIVES this year and last year are all Bull Crap because Jeff cannot coach and his kids are low on the basketball IQ and we still have the common element of LOSSES.

Duh.

So that was a lot of words to reiterate your wrong stance a bad turnover is related to the team liking each other and the coach .
And it remains silly
As I suggested take the L and move on.
Don’t go all smf defending a stupid take to the hilt

My god you are at least consistently stupid. And very incapable of understanding subtle and apparently direct narrative as well.

A detail I noticed:

Hugley hung on the rim and added a backboard slap. If he doesn't slap the board, the hanging likely doesn't get called. The refs might let a little longer hanging go, but the backboard slap after a dunk always gets called.

Now that begs the question--how many times was this done in practice? If I'm a coach and I see it in practice, the player owes me immediate "payment" (a full court sprint, lines, stairs, pushups, etc.).

Emotions play a large part in this . Players at every level make dumb decisions, when someone consistently does it and doesn’t learn from their mistakes that’s when there’s problems at a coaching level or the players simply incapable of controlling his emotions ( ie X barking at officials and getting T up )

Oh, God I hope it isn't let go in practice.

Since he’s done it exactly once -
I’d suggest it’s not

I'd also like to think it's not overlooked. On the other hand, the sample size of what we've seen is very small. Hugley's not a frequent dunker for his position and height, and he's had even fewer wide open dunks that give the opportunity for a backboard slap.

Plenty of high school kids get into the habit of slapping the board when they're goofing around. I always told them not to do it even then. Habits show up in games.
