A lot of whispers about Slice moving to St. John's after the season. I have heard this from several people. Have to admit that it is surprising to me. I knew he was friends with Mullin, but I didn't realize how close they were. Now, there is a wildcard in all of this. I understand that he only makes the move if Calipari goes to the NBA. Not sure how accurate that is. He may be contemplating it either way. I know that it would be difficult for him to leave Calipari unless Cal makes that move.
Personally, I understand that they are friends. With that being said, I think it is a crazy move. To leave Calipari's staff with the ability to recruit in that situation is very hard to understand. Then you consider it is for a first time coach in a league that is losing its luster. Oh, and it would probably be a pay cut. I also always thought Slice wanted to be in the NBA. Like I said, there is a lot of chatter in Indianapolis about this. We will have to see how this plays out.
From St. John's perspective, not sure why you would tie up two recruiting spots with assistants in the same area.
Could Calipari, Hoiberg, and Donovan all head to the NBA? I doubt all three, but it sounds like at least one will be moving on.
