If it comes down to it, I think the head coaches at the smaller schools usually work out the best in college hoops. Out of these guys, who does everyone think would be the best fit at Pitt?
Dave Loos - Austin Peay: Been their coach since 1990, a few tourneys including this year, slightly above .500 record at current job
Rick Byrd - Belmont: Has coached there since before they were D1, solid winning percentage, Tennessee native though so maybe that's why he's been there so long?
Gary Waters - Cleveland State: 2 tourneys at CSU, pretty average at current gig, but did coach Kent State through the '01 season.
Archie Miller - Dayton: Always talked about, pretty obvious why he'd possibly work and why it might be a longshot.
Joe Dooley - FGCU: Only been there since '13 but his team this year played similar to the "Dunk City" squad a few years back. Would be an interesting change of pace here.
Tim Cluess - Iona: Has won 20 games at least every season at Iona, probably a guy that will get a bigger job soon, could this be his year?
Josh Pastner - Memphis: Decent job succeeding Calipari, not the same Memphis program as it was however, does he want to coach in the bigger conferences?
Kermit Davis - Middle Tennessee: After beating MSU, is he a trendy name in the college hoops world?
Greg Kampe - Oakland: Will he ever leave? Been at current job since '84, maybe he's just content, maybe he'll finally look for a bigger job
Andrew Toole - RMU: Could Pitt look to nearby Moon Township for their next coach?
Randy Bennett - Saint Mary's: Head coach since '01, probably doesn't want to leave or at least stay out West, but solid career and probably would be a good hire if he is interested, probably a longshot though.
Kevin Willard - Seton Hall: Had to mention him, don't know how fond his memories of Pitt are, also don't know if Pitt would go down that route
Orlando Antigua - USF: 2 years HC experience, not a good record, former Pitt player though and very well liked when he was an asst. coach.
Brad Underwood - Stephen F. Austin: Don't know if he'd be interested in Pitt, 89-14 record as HC, probably draw a lot of interest after beating WVU.
Gregg Marshall - Wichita State: Probably the cream of the crop, if interested throw the boat at him, would be a huge home run hire, don't know if there is really a chance but we could hope!
Chris Mack - Xavier: Might be the 2nd best after Marshall, may even actually have a shot at him, would it make sense for Pitt?
