I post this now because the UNC game is not only big in terms of the Coastal Championship, we probably need a minimum of 8 wins to have a very good shot at a "Tier 1 Bowl." Otherwise, its Detroit, Shreveport, Annapolis, or St. Pete.

CFP/NY6: Clem, Lou, FSU
Russell Athletic: Coastal Champ

Tier 1 (Belk, Sun, Pinstripe, Gator/Music City)
ND (who I think goes 7-5)
3 Coastal teams

A couple things. I think the ACC gets a minimum of 2 NY6 bids, and as many as 3. If you're Pitt, you're hoping Clemson beats Louisville and FSU beats Clemson. All finish 11-1 and grab 3 NY6 bids. If only 2 get in, it makes a Tier 1 Bowl harder to get into.

The good news is that NCSU actually played somebody out of conference so they cant go 3-5 in the ACC and get a Tier 1 spot over a 6-2 team like they did last year. I dont see any Atlantic teams getting Tier 1 spots right now.

So, its Pitt, UNC, Miami, VT, and GT fighting for 3-4 Tier 1/Russell Athletic bids.

If we lose to UNC and are 2-2, if you chalk up Clemson and Miami as losses, it would pretty much mean we have to win the other 6 to get a Tier 1 Bowl. Big, big game Saturday.

So much has to play out. If Pitt wins at UNC and The U is legit and FSU isn't rubbish they looked like this past Saturday, that's three potential losses for UNC. Hell, GT looks like their old self so far too. Could be another one there. Far too early indeed. Pump the breaks. Allow the season to play out a bit.

Of course, the same applies to Pitt and Miami. The U still has FSU and Notre Dame in addition to GT, Pitt and UNC. GT still has Pitt, UNC, The U and Clemson. And, of course, we know what Pitt has coming up. Just gotta see where the chips fall.
