So is Paul Chryst........

He's back to being an OC at Wisconsin but it's been their defense that is carrying that team. Interesting that even with their early successes their recruiting is ranked 59th.

Maybe ask this again in a couple of years.

Urban is 55-4 at OSU. If PC wins tonight, color me super impressed. Oh by the way, playing with a true freshman QB who used to be a Pitt verbal.

I don't have any hard feelings for PC like I do his predecessors, but it kinda sucks to see him succeed with guys who were pitt verbals.

Wait a second, he lost his all world DC to LSU. Can you provide some stats that shows he inherited the best D in the country? His current DC Wilcox has bounced around lately. I don't care what the circumstances are, if he's beats urban that is damn impressive. That would be a big time signature win. This is coming from somebody who wasn't a big PC fan.

He inherited maybe the best defense in the nation. Congratulations to him for not screwing that up.

The 3* QB that no fan wanted
Or the 4* RB that decommitted from Chryst?

Ok ... Give them due and all, but if our we had 4 Tds, 5 ints throwing for 51% completion percentage and AVERAGING 114 years per game! You guys would be absolutely slaughtering the kid on this board.

Wisconsin is winning on defense! 6 pts for o$u is the lowest amount at half of any urban Meyer team there

Speaking of QBs that we wish would have signed with Pitt as well as Coach Chryst, I was watching a little of Notre Dame-Stanford game and noticed that Keller Chryst wasn't playing.
Wasn't he the #1 or 2 overall QB a few years back....he's a Junior and I don't think he has many stats at all.

He beat LSU who is not good and their coach got fired
Akron
Georgia st. Enough said
Michigan st. Who suck

Lost to
Michigan
OSU

What has he really done?

Chryst isn't a big game coach. The 4th quarter was a travesty, no blitzes which gave Ohio State all day to throw. Not surprised Wisconsin blew it.

Wisconsin will find a way to lose a couple more games before the end of the year.

Wisconsin has been a better program than Pitt lately, he inherited a much better team. Kudos to him though for some good recruits we've had (Conner, linemen).

Clements is a player. Hornibrook type QBs are a dime a dozen. The really good teams win games in the trenches, and Wisconsin isnt too shabby there on either side of the ball.

Wisky won 11 games the year before Chryst arrived & Bret Bielema had a lot of success there. Without question, they are ahead of us. That said, they lost on their home field to a team with only 6 returning starters. tOSU isn't nearly as good as the 2014 or 2015 Buckeyes.

Pitt fans need to learn from history. Chryst was 13-13 after year 2, and had some bad losses. Narduzzi is 13-7 with no bad losses. Chryst is showing that he is a pretty good HC. Narduzzi is better. Perspective.
A lot of the success of the HC depends on the quality of his coaching staff and their ability to coach, motivate, and recruit.
PITT has good HC's but we seem to surround them with "bargin basemant" losers.
If you want a Top 10 program you have to be " all in." Just like poker if you want to win big!
The greatest CEO's or business managers don't succeed without great staffs!
No HC can put a game plan toether or make meaningfull haftime adjs with solid input from his coordinators and key players!
Lets hope the gameday improvement continues!

Whenever I see Chrystal at Wisky, I am reminded of the poster for The Godfather movie.
You know, the one with the hand pulling the strings.
Only instead of the word "Godfather"; substitute "Chryst".

You're right and I agree. Like you, I have never been a Chryst believer, and outside of Hornibrook these are not his players, but he is showing the world something this season. Even the detractors,. like me, have to admit he;s doing a hell of a job. Wisky is very sound, very tough, very well coached in all phases. That said, the Wisky D has been flat out dominant and has been the big story for them this year, and PC has nothing to do with that, including the hiring of Wilcox as DC. The O has been solid but nothing special. Michigan shut down the Wisky O completely and really dominated that game statistically. I believe Clement had like 330 yards all season going into the game last night. Again, that said, it was a well-called game by PC last night and they gave a very tough OSU D all it could handle.

great game for those who didn't watch it. Electric atmosphere in Camp Randall, very intense, very well played, minimal mistakes, hard hitting, great blocking and tackling by both sides. College football at its best.

Hornibrook will be a good one. He is playing like an upperclassman already and as long as they keep that O line strong, he will do very well there.

What's he actually done?

Lsu and mich state stink.

He should have lost to Georgia state. Not coulda shoulda.

He's an average head coach.

Dude you bash our basketball coach up and down before he's coached a game so spare me. You're a joke.
Yup - laughable.

PC is similar to Ferentz at Iowa. They are good fits for their school. Both are 7-8 win type coaches on average over the long haul.

Basketball hire deserved to be bashed until he proves he isn't what 17 years of history shows.

So me calling and x coach average upsets you but you can spend an entire offseason crying and stomping your feet over an actual Pitt coach?

You're ridiculous

You're welcome to do what you want. You think I'm wrong, and that is fine. I think you're wrong.

Show me where I bashed him?

I just don't see the love the fest. Narduzzi has a better record this season.
"Narduzzi has a better record this season"

We both have two losses-you're basing that statement on us having played one more game than Wisky has? That's ridiculous.

You see any difference in Wisky's schedule and ours, by any chance? Do our wins or losses compare to theirs? They've lost-barely- to two top 5 teams for chrissakes.

I've never been a Chryst believer but he's done nothing but impress so far at Wisky. He has done a very good job by any measure.

ummmm.... yeah... and Wisconsin was also an 11 win team the year before he came to Wisconsin, and have double digit wins in 5 of the last 7 years. He is not exactly turning a program around. And he certainly didnt turn the Pitt program around in 2 years.

The who is doing better coaching this year debate is a non winning argument. Both are doing 'well' we lost to 2 top teams on the road by a total of 8 points too. And Wisky has a lot more to work with... and most of that is thanks for Chryst average recruiting and bolting during December of a season leaving Narduzzi and Pitt a few weeks to salvage a recruiting season, and ended with a number 70 class in the country.

First its to early to know whether or not PC will work at wisconsin. In my opinion he is a average to slightly above average HC. Which at wisconsin means he wins 8 games a year maybe 9 in that division. He is really dependent on getting a good DC, which was my problem with him at Pitt. He had a ok D his first year and when that DC left, his name escapes me he hire House which is something a Offensive coach should have never done. Maybe Pitt wouldn't let him spend the money, I don't know but it was rumored Orlando was interested and he ended up at Utah ST so money wasn't a factor. And Orlando has proven to be a good DC.

Narduzzi has a higher winning percentage. I guess your definition of ridiculous is the same definition as accurate.

The answer to the OP is neither. Both sides can and will do better.

However, the program had been horribly mistreated for a prolonged period of time when he arrived and it took time to stabilize things.

I know that's not sexy and it doesn't suit the narrative on either side but it is the truth.
