Wake: 5-0. Remaining games against NC State, at Clemson, at BC.
NC State: 3-1. Remaining games at Florida State, at Wake, vs Syracuse, vs UNC. Beat Clemson head to head.
Clemson: 4-2. Remaining games at Louisville, vs Wake.
So who are you picking?
Now that Jurkovec is back, Wake may very well be underdogs in the rest of its games. But they're still probably the safe pick, though I'm curious to see if they're actually legit or if they've merely taken advantage of a fortuitous schedule. Their performances against the defenses of NC State and Clemson will be interesting, to say the least.
NC State, having already won over Clemson, seems like an enticing pick. If they can win this week and then beat Wake, they are sitting pretty. However, they could also lose three of those remaining games.
Clemson: Okay, so what happens if: Wake beats NC State but then loses its last two... NC State wins its other three remaining games.... Clemson wins out, which includes beating Wake? They'd all have two losses, and the head to head tie breaker would not apply. Is highest CFP ranking what they would use? To be honest, I still don't think Clemson would get in under those circumstances. I think they probably need NC State to beat Wake but lose two other games, and then they need to beat Wake themselves. Either way, seems like a longshot.
