Just looking at the NCAA statistics by team. The University of Pittsburgh statistics are extremely awful this year.
As an example …Rebounding. I mean, we knew they were bad but when I’m now looking at it currently, it’s downright putrid.
Rebound margin per game - #260
Defensive rebounds per game - #255
Offensive rebounds per game - #284
Assists per game: Ranked 191st in the country.
Essentially 101 stuff in terms of basketball. No wonder they lose a lot of games.
I know rebounding is about “will and want” but at the end of the day, when the team is this bad by missing two important pieces out of three in basketball (scoring obviously being one of the three), that tells me there’s no structure on the offense at all. Not to mention there’s no structure on the defense either if they are this bad statistically.
I’m not even mad where the program is right now. The feelings are more of depression and apathy after seeing those statistics. I mean there was a time that people didn’t like Jamie‘s style of basketball because they weren’t really built to score a lot. They were known as a defensive and physical team that could crash the boards and do things well from an X & O perspective. Over the last decade, we have not seen any of that from Kevin Stallings to Jeff Capel.
As much as it pains me to say, this is what we’re stuck with after 7 years.
