Beat Loyola Marymount of CA 4-1. Then, came from behind to beat Utah State 3-2.

Down 2-0, got back to back HRs in 6th to tie the game. Then, with 2 out and a runner on 1st in the bottom of the 7th, a double to the wall won it.

Good start. Utah St is a pretty good team. Got pretty good pitching today from Dawson, Harris and Rachach. Hitting wasn't very good, but they did have some clutch hits by Hershmann, G, Fredericks and Gray.

Rutgers apparently manditorily is awful in every sport. They were really bad.

The bad news Saturday, besides losing to CSF, was that the transfer clearly is not going to be that good of a pitcher. She gave up both runs to Rutgers. Then, when Harris and Dawson both were ineffective against CSF, she never even warmed up.

I assume Knight is injured. She is on the roster, but wasn’t used in any of the 5 games. She was the #2 pitcher last year.

Rachach did come in against Fullerton. She is just as good as Dawson, maybe better. Harris needs to be the ace and started out great last year till she got hurt and then once she came back she was never the same. So far, she has pitched pretty well.

Knight was in a walking boot when I saw her at the Pitt camp in early December. My daughter, who is a high school Freshman, has been at the camp the last 2 years. It is a very well run and fun camp.

Ended up 3-1-1 in first trip with a 0-0 tie against LMU in the final game. They actually took a 2-0 in the top of the 9th, but ran out of time and score riverted back to the 8th inning. The game had a 2 hour time limit.

Back when my daughter was in middle and high school, she went to many Pitt camps. They were always very well run...much better than most of the college camps she went to. We were always very impressed with Coach Holly. She worked harder at her camps than any coach at the other camps we went to. One year I took my daughter and 4 of her travel teammates to a Pitt camp. That was a crazy 4 hour trip across the state, but I miss those days. Cherish these times with your daughter.

I never knew there were time limited games in college. It never happened during my daughter's 5 years.

I didn’t go to the final game, but I heard some talk on Saturday that it would be time limited because of travel plans. Since LMU is only an hour’s drive from CSUF, I assumed it was Pitt’s travel plans.

By coincidence, I flew to Vegas on Sunday evening and was on the same flight as the Maryland softball team. They had played in the same Santa Barbara tournament that Pitt did a few years ago and were heading to another one at UNLV. They had at least twice the number of players Pitt dressed at CSUF, yet I assume the money isn’t available in softball to charter planes. (They could have saved a lot of money by taking a chartered bus to Vegas, but, for whatever reason, flew.) So, my assumption is that Pitt had a plane to catch and that was the reason for the time limit.

That is my guess too!
