JD is a good coach, but I think a clean start would be beneficial for everyone. TCU brings JD back to his alma mater. They take over his contact. We go and hire Archie Miller. Make him a big-time offer, and bring his dad on as Director of Basketball Operations or give him some other position.

Yea, I've said a few times that I think Jamie will look at a lesser job.....to get out before he gets got. I think Jamie will look at a job like Seton Hall if Willard gets canned or maybe if TCU opens up or maybe some random A10 or American job that comes open.

Jamie only has 2 years left after this. He's getting dangerously close to getting canned. He may want to get out.

A solution is needed.
Because doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results = insanity for PITT, the team, staff, and fans!
Guess what we're not getting different results so something is really wrong!

Would be nice if he would just leave, I agree, but probably won't happen.

We'll see tho

Pitt can't and shouldn't fire Dixon right now......unless they can get Sean Miller for sure. Who would want to coach Pitt if they fired the winningest coach in BE history for missing 3 NCAATs in 5 years? No, missing 5 out 7......ok, then you pull the trigger. That's a no-brainer.

I thought Jaimie was signed through 2023? As for Archie I don't think he has any interest in coming to Pitt. He didn't in HS and I just have a feeling he is waiting for a Blue Chip job to open up. I still like JD a lot but really think we need to shake up the assistants. I would probably keep Smoke because he looks like he has potential but BK and Barton have to be replaced.

I think 2 years is wrong. If the team finishes the season like they most likely will(choke, lose games and look bad doing it) and not make the tournament(which they won't), and the same thing next year--- I think Jamie is gone(pressured to step down). No way this happens for another 2 years. We've dealt with this for 5 years now roughly and no end in sight.

IDK ... If this ends the way it looks like it will end, and with things looking like they are going south with Young, after two years of flame outs, the both could call it a college career and move on ...

Which puts it at a complete restart ...

There has to be real soul searching on that, really determine if they believe in JD or not, because they are going to have a hard time getting to .500 next year without both Young and Artis.

Pretty sure he is... What a terrible signing.

Hindsight is only 20/20 I know.

But, why sign a coach For THAT long & THAT many years in advance.

He's not/was not Coach K or John Calipari for gods sake.
Especially with all the choke jobs in the NCAA Tournament. Awful extension in every aspect

I think that JD is wise enough to know things are not working out at this point, he needs some type of success in the next 14 months to gain some momentum in order to be a little more marketable, when that happens he will be gone to some western location.

If we had done it after the 2009 season, then u could see why but we were showing clear signs of flatlining when it was done. 10 years is still too much even at that point.

The problem is simple.
Jamie was royalty (King level) in the Big East. He earned it and deserved it!
He won, recruited well, and was respected.
Jamie moved to the ACC kicking and screaming. Some people adjust to change well and others don't. I believe he shows his stuggle with the move to the ACC, having to reestablish himself, the program in a new conference and this effects team performance!
As other posters mentioned the move the ACC was important but so is adusting to a new environment. Only time will tell if Dixon can pull out of this dive!

Question re: the assistants; who is closest to the players? I get the impression it's BK. If he were to go, would that create dissent within the team? Would it matter?
