Pitt got embarrassed the second half, no doubt about it. I was humiliated as a fan, and still am when the topic is brought up. But, two factors contributed to the outcome IMO. The Duzz not kicking the FG, and the special teams debacle throughout the game, which added to score and field position. It should have been 9-7 at the half, and possibly a competitive game the second. PSU though, deserves credit for taking advantage of opportunities, and their staff gets much credit. But, the game should not have gotten away from Pitt like it did.
The game is behind us now. Pitt's season can either go positively from here on, or negatively. A character check is in the balance. A PSU friend told me after the game that I probably felt like he did after losing to Pitt and getting demolished by Mich the game after two years ago. Probably true. They turned their season around after that. Will Pitt? We'll see. It does the program no good for the fanbase to quit on the season. 51-6 is horrific, but if Pitt ends up with a successful season, we can put it behind us, just like they did. Can't let one game determine the season. I'll be there for GT, and hope for a win.

Perspective is for the birds. Fire everyone and bring Foge back from retir... the grave.

Truth be told we'll likely get beaten close to that next year too. But this is the advantage in their refusal to play any further after then. There will be no reason to annually dredge up the embarrassments.

We need to get over it. We as in the FANS.
Meanwhile the staff and players should be increasing in rage about it as the week goes on, and ready to pulverize GT.

Of course, this happens to be the one opponent where (on D anyway) it sometimes makes sense to show a skosh of patience to read the play, not over-commit...Eh, they probably aren't all that upset about last week anyway. All these kids care about today is the hippin and a hoppin and the bippin and boppin...

Yep, agree, certainly didnt play bad statistically in any of the 3 games vs ups, and the last 2 years came down to turnovers, penalties and special teams.

The test of this coaching staff will be to turn momentum around and not let the season get out of hand, we shall see how successful they are against a team many thought would have 7-8 wins this year.

I just don't understand why people mention special teams as an afterthought. They are quite often the most important plays of the game. If you are bad at special teams, you are usually a bad team.

You’re right and add in penalties and turnovers.
If those are to high, you have a bad team.

Good post, I am really down this week after saturday and have no hope for this team. Duzz is an awful coach but crazier things have happened
