Speca to the Nits

the whole "wishing them well" stuff cracks me up. I'm with Meister on this....hope Speca and his turncoat family ride the bench at crappy Valley and he comes crawling back in a few years looking for a landing space (would never wish injury on anyone)

Yea, I wish nothing but the worst for any local kid who goes to Penn State. I dont know how you can be a Pitt fan and say "man, I really hope this local guy has a nice career at Enabler U." Who thinks like that? I hope he never plays a down, flunks out of school, and becomes homeless. But that's just me.

I said 0%

Pitt will never land a suburban white kid over Penn State. Those families think Penn State is some fantasyland. Maybe he can become their next roided up white LB like Mauti, Lee, Poslusny, etc.
Those people read newspapers and online news and watch espn right?

Let me guess any bad news on Piss U is “media bias” … lol

How embarrassing … for them.

Just another local kid who feels that he is to good to play at Pitt. Hopefully for him, it will work out. If not, he will be spending his last couple of years playing at Pitt wondering why he made such a bad decision in the first place.

I think most feel that it was 1 bad guy and there really wasnt any cover-up. So they got the guy and its old history. Attendance far outweighs playing at a place that enables child rape.

Yep better academics, can compete for a title and they aren’t creepy ppl who cover up rape.

It's heaven for "suburban softies."

Oh no I didn't! Bunch of you guys gonna be mad I brought that phrase back.

You can add Scott McKillop, Holtz, and probably Lumpy. I'd venture a guess that we got more than our share. ND and Michigan have been a bigger problem.

McKillop and Jacobson werent offered. Holtz committed there but decommitted when they were put on probation.

Unless it's always been your dream school or something, you don't typically commit this early if your spot is secure and you're all that high of a priority. Just sayin'.
I was mostly kidding but guys do commit early to slow down the pestering that coaches do. And maybe it is a dream school. It really isn't a make or break thing and I don't understand why we do this every time a kid doesn't pick Pitt. The thing about it is, PSU is supposed to land the cream of the crop. Pitt isn't. It's much more of a make or break for them.

I don't think we recruit any worse with suburban white kids than any other demographic, at least vs Penn State. Just like with black recruits, they probably beat us head to head 4 out of 5 times.

Yeah. I mean, Notre Dame seems to be an added hurdle for some of the white dudes around here. But I don't know how far beyond that the analysis goes.

I don’t wish good luck or bad luck. I just won’t be following him. I don’t care if he becomes an all-American or he falls asleep sitting on the bench. I felt the same way about Joe Montana and the rest of the drifters over the years….

Now down the road, if he decides he’s rested enough on Saturdays and wishes to come back home to play, then that’s up to Narduzzi. If he doesn’t feel that Speca can help, then he can head down to Morgantown…

lol, you're better than me as I actively root for bad luck. I know I usually take the all is forgiven approach when welcoming back McMillon, Devonshire, etc. But Speca I hope he ends up at Rutgers or somewhere like that. His total fawning over the nits now, calling them "home" & "family" and trying to get Pitt legacy Gonzalez to follow in his footsteps. We'll see how much it feels like home in a couple years if he is riding the bench. I was more upset with missing out on Dave Adams several years ago who seemed dominate in games I watched. The NA championship game and Speca was invisible. Nothing like the biggest star rising up on the big stage in that game

I think Speca has gotten way more pub on here than usual just because his uncle is on the board. We probably won't even talk about it this much when Q. Martin - who is a way better player - goes elsewhere.

That only started with Franklin/Smith.

I bet he feels at home there if you know what I mean. Its a paradise for some.

Agree, his uncle acted like his agent on here lol. Now he gets free play with the ticklemonster Oh well H2P

Yeah, why a parent or relative of a recruit (or current player for that matter) would want to openly be on a fan message board is kind of crazy. Speca probably knew where this was headed, he should have quietly bowed out a while ago. Who knows, maybe it was one of the best deep cover trolls of all time. I think I see his name pop up on premium thread titles so I assume he paid as well. If so, a really clever troll job, lol.

Truthfully, while I would love both Martin and Speca, I'm still not sure how either games transforms to the college level. Speca might be best as a defensive end, think he started playing that way. Martin, what is his best position? But I also have the same thoughts on Derrick Davis

Martin is another ticklemonster lean as well. Let's keep hitting Fla and other areas for Rb's. H2P

To me, losing Speca is like losing one of the Hinish brothers. I'd rather have them than not have them... sure. But, in the whole scheme of things, oh well. It's not like losing Whitehead or Pryor or Boyd or something.

Kurt Hinnish was a loss. Turned out to be the best WPIAL player in that class that included Ford, Wade, Jeter, etc. Surprising in that he was a 3 star who I thought ND offered to help secure Adams. Also suprised that PCC had 2 3-star lineman in Rashad Wheeler & Hinnish ( a year apart). I thought Wheeler had a lot more upside and was the better get but look how that turned out.

I see Speca being more of an Adams in terms of production rather than Hinnish. He's already taken quite a pounding and still hasn't played his senior year, similar to the way Adams was beat up by the time he got to ND

Well if we had gotten Hinnish or Jeter, we may not have pursued Twyman. That's the way I look at it. Although we also brought in that former Penn State dude who went to a JUCO, so maybe he would have been the odd man out.

Central also had CJ Thorpe in the trenches around that time.

If you mean in terms of overall production, or overall contribution to his team, or professional career, then I would agree that Hinnish was probably the best. But in terms of best or most impressive single season, then that was Ford's 2019 season.

Why isn't Pitt expected to "land the cream of the crop" as well?

PCC was very underwhelming all year. I think Gonzalez's future is at TE / HB. He looks bigger than Speca.

Once a local kid goes elsewhere I don't follow them. I could care less how they are doing. Chuck Noll didn't care about all pros who couldn't play for one reason or another, and I don't care about a high school kid who goes elsewhere (even though he goes to my alma mater).

In fairness, I have a freshman in college that I didn't try to steer anywhere, and I'm paying. Not athletic related, but at some point it needs to be the kid's decision.

This is a bummer, but we'll survive. If he was from Virginia nobody would care.
But he’s not.
