Spoke with Tom Luginbill last night

He talked about how he thought a lot of defensive head coaches are overlooked with the current focus by a lot of schools on exciting offenses, perhaps even before actual winning. He said he thought Narduzzi was a very good HC and could get the program up and competing for the Coastal every year. He thought Pitt had a decent shot at retaining him longterm because of the connection to the area and the fact some other programs might shy away from a defensive guy and thus there just may not be as many better opportunities for him as there might be for the up and coming offensive HCs.

He did say he thought we had a shot at the Coastal, but it will come down to QB play in the division. He was not a fan of Max Browne and felt that would probably cost us.

He mentioned he thinks Fuente is the next top coach building something right now.

On talent he thinks he is one of the better WRs in the country, but between the ears he just can't grasp the things he needs to, to get on the field and consistently perform.

Not sure what his basis for the Browne comment was, but I don't think Luginbill has any more idea how Browne's going to do in his new situation than any of us do. What we do know is he's the best we have based on practice performance, so I hope he can get it done.

Yeah, I think it was more from his previous evaluations and reports on Browne. I am not sure he had anything new about Browne's time at Pitt, so far. He was just mentioning Browne in the context that the coastal is so wide open because everyone other than Duke is replacing a QB.

Based on the recent development of Savage and Peterman in their twilight college years, I think PITT fans have reason to be optimistic about Browne until proven otherwise.

Maybe because when Browne decided to transfer, there wasn't much demand for his services.
