I have the same complaints about Stallings recruiting as I had about Dixon's recruiting:

Not enough points (ball handlers) and not enough players that like to play in the paint.

Same old, same old.

A front line of Luther, Brown/Stevenson and Frame - Not much in the way of inside scoring or rebounding with that trio

Only Carr and Milligan as ball handlers? (Maybe try Stewart at the point - he has zero turnovers (joking)).

A little too early to make any comparisons . His Vandy teams had big guys and pgs . First thing he complained about last yr was there were no rim protectors . What he wants and what he’s able to get are two different things . Remenber Thompson was his first recruit .

Ok - You lose Thompson - it is a blow - but yo need to get a ball handler - Does not have to be a shooter - does not have to be a defensive stopper - just not turn it over 7 times in 17 possessions.

I’m sure he tried !

Lame excuse - Totally unacceptable - It is unrealistic to think no one was available and would come to Pitt - I am not talking about a good player, just an adequate player

Dixon or Stallings - too many 6-5 guys that can't handle the ball or rebound

You see what he got didn’t you .

When I compare Dixon and Stallings recruiting I am talking about how they both failed to address obvious holes and have too many of the same players at the same stages.

I do think Carr, Frame and Stevenson are an improvement over what Dixon brought in the last 3 seasons. Davis looks like he can contribute as well.

The clock is ticking on Kene, Stewart, Brown, Peace and Samson. Hopefully 2 or 3 develop. Stallings obviously sees something he likes in Kene. Kene has played better in NY.

Dixon had the same problem with rim protectors his last few years. This from a guy who obviously valued rebounding and defense over scoring. He couldn't land anyone. One year he landed Steven Adams, and didn't play him enough. And then when he lost Beejay Anya to NC State, he struck out on everyone after that. It's been miserable for a long time in this area. And now when you have so many Freshman and you value 3PT shooting over everything else, it's a recipe for disaster.

Our best team consisted of a starting lineup that was 6-8, 6-6, 6-6, 6-3, and 5–11. There wasn’t a rim protector in the starting lineup.

I always felt Jamie did a good job getting traditional point guards. Even his last year he had Robinson. I also thought he always got strong rebounders even if they were a little undersized. He seemed to have a harder time finding pure great shooting guards after 2011. I know Cam had great shooting numbers but they never really had that guy you could trust at the end of the game after Wannamaker graduated. It’s a shame that 2011 team got a bad draw against Butler in the 2nd round. They had the talent to make the regional final and final four but that game was just flat out bad luck.

The Pitt name has no wow factor out there amoung recruits and thinking that getting the players he wants is easy is delusional . Also not understanding that KS doesn’t know what his needs are is also delusional . Pitt needs to get lucky like it seems they have with Carr and Stevenson . They also need Brown and or Peace to be like a Gary McGhee story .

I'd imagine I watched every game. He wasn't a great defender or rim protector. Maybe you are confused on what a rim protector is.
No , he blocked shots , prohited opponents from getting postion inside , getting their shots off in close and rebounded . He just wasn’t big enough in the nba .

He didn't really block shots (about 1 per game) and he didn't really stop opponents from getting to the rim. He did prevent big men from getting post position and rebounded. Those are not really rim protector skills. Rebounding literally has nothing to do with being a rim protector, even though it is great to have.

Perhaps he was a rim protector in that he prevented people from getting even close to the rim. You were much more likely to get hit and hit hard when Blair played.
