While Stallings wouldn't have been my first or even last choice, he is not a bad coach. In fact, he is very similar to Jamie and a slight step down. However, after pushing Jamie out the door and telling everyone he was going to make a splash hire, Barnes absolutely had to do better than this.

With that said, Stallings is not a terrible coach. He is passionate and is a good tactician. I'll wait to make total judgement on this hire until I see what players are coming back, what Sheldon decides to do and what happens to our recruits.

IMO the stuff regarding Sheldon and the "I'll kill you" is being overblown. Pitt did tamper with Sheldon and if Pitt was in that same situation, many of our fans would have called for Dixon to do the same thing. Also, the "I'll kill you" was a literal expression, not what he truly meant. Wade Baldwin acted as a poor sport after beating Tennessee and clapped right in a players face. Stallings didn't like it and overreacted. I wouldn't have standed for that kind of behavior either.

Like most on here, I didn't want him here and sent messages to Barnes and Gallagher voicing my displeasure. However, at the end of the day, I am a huge Pitt and basketball fan and will still continue to root for and support them and hope for the best. I hope some of you re-think and decide to do the same.

Rational reply. I'd agree that, after getting past the disappointment and 'up in arms' reaction, when you get right down to it, Stallings seems similar to and maybe just a slight step down from Jamie. They've both been at their respective schools a long 17 years. Sounds like Stallings recruiting record has actually been better than Jamie's.

I also agree regarding the "I'll kill you" incident. Seems like many are making more out of it than what there was. Definitely a bad choice of words by Stallings, but it is understandable if not commendable that he was upset by what Baldwin did. Just seems like Stallings regrettably reacted emotionally in that situation instead of being more in control as you would have hoped and I'm sure Stallings would have hoped himself in hindsight.

As you say, what will be interesting is what Sheldon decides and what happens to our recruits. Hard to figure on Sheldon given his Joker tweet but then the level-headed tweet from Donovan.
