Stanford drops wrestling how many more?

With a little over 80 D1 wrestling teams this sport can't lose too many especially from a school that had the pedigree of Stanford. I am scarred that many more will be cutting the sport. Hell some of the PSAC schools will be lucky to survive this crisis let alone keep sports. The D1 wrestling schools are the PSAC schools in the worst shape to. Hopefully if they do go away, the surviving schools add teams. I know Slippery Rock was trying to add it back, not sure if that is still in the cards since Covid.

Yea this one hurt especially since Stanford has a solid program and won the PAC 12 last year. Hopefully no more but if universities dont get a nice chunk of that football money you could see a significant amount of programs get dropped

I really think the 4 Div I PSAC schools will be ok with the possible exception of Bloomsburg...since the PSAC wrestling programs do not rely on any football revenue. The ones who may be dropping wrestling will be your MAC schools who really rely on football revenue to fund other sport (Kent State, Ohio, Central Michigan, etc)

Didn't they finish 2nd to ASU?

Regardless - they are a very good team, with 2 freshman qualifiers (I believe both were seeded 3rd)

Hopefully their alumni are strong enough to push the U to reconsider/reinstate

You're right ASU won it this year Stanford won it last year my bad thisbyear has been a blur lol

I think we’re under 80 programs now. Really sucks when you lose any program, let alone a good one like Stanford.
