** Perhaps someone can correct me. I seem to recall that Zack Austin’s amazing buzzer beating three pointer at Ohio State ended up on ESPN’s Play of the Day, coming in somewhere around around the #6 or #7 mark.

** I also seem to recall that there was some discussion, either among Pitt fans or ESPN’s talking heads, that this ranking seemed way too low.

** It makes one wonder if Zack took this personally.

** After all, on this particular Saturday against Stanford, Zack gave us not just one, but two extremely Play of the Day worthy highlights to wow the Peterson Events Center Crowd!.

** Was Zack’s Monster Rip-Away Block the most impressive physical defensive play since a certain Big Fella tossed another fella named Thabeet over his shoulder in Storrs in 2009? It just might have been.

** What made the Rip-Away even that much more Top 10 worthy was the perfect little intimidating look Zack gave to Stanford’s Toure, just enough to really make the point, but not too much raise the ire of the refs. Intense and awesome!

** But if that wasn’t enough for you, Zack’s reverse follow-up up slam of Cam’s miss in tight kept his highlight reel rolling. Quite the show!

** Nonetheless, it isn’t just from ESPN where our man Zack can’t seem to catch a break. Moments after his second dazzler, the scoreboard at the Pete recognized the highlight of the game as Guillermo’s power slam follow up of a Jaland three point miss to push the second half Panther lead to 20.

** Yeah … that one was pretty good too!

** It was all part of a fine GDG outing where he made plenty of plays all over the court. This is absolutely the player the Panthers need to be their most successful this year. Made shots, shot blocking, rebounds, and even some passing … it was all there tonight.

** And overall, once the Panthers were able to find their footing after initially going down 9 points, they offered plenty of highlights for Pitt Fans to enjoy.

** I suspect that so many of Ish and Jaland’s extraordinary finishes going to the rack have become almost so commonplace that we’ve begun to take them a little for granted.

** Joining me at today’s game was a good friend who knows hoops well, having coached at the high school level for over a decade. He’s a Pitt Hoops fan who doesn’t have the opportunity to follow allow as closely as he’d like. But he was absolutely dazzled by the magic our guards show when finishing down low.

** He was especially impressed by Ish. Who wouldn’t have been impressed by Ish? He showed not a single ounce of residue from his ankle to deliver just another All-ACC performance.

** More highlights were offered by Jorge Diaz Graham who is looking like he’d starting to turn into the quick trigger three point wing weapon many of us hoped Amsal would be.

** And when the Twins are able to find a decent amount of time on the court together, it’s almost assured one will offer the other a nice assist like GDG gave to JDG on one of his threes this night.

** Still, the most impressive part of the game today was not anything that will show up in any of the highlight reels or plays of the day. This was easily some of the best defense we’ve seen our Panthers play.

** From the 10:07 mark of the first half until the 9:33 mark of the second half, the Stanford Cardinal scored just three field goals. Yep. 3. And just a total of 16 points in that same 20+ minute stretch too.

** They accomplished this feat by providing well game planned help and light double-teams against Stanford’s scorer Raynuad.

** Sure, he had his way with us in the early going as he hit everything he threw up initially. But once the Panthers forced him to give up the ball, it became more than clear that Stanford had no other gun to offer. And even Raynuad wasn't much of a factor in this game at all in the final 30 minutes or so.

** It also helps a ton when clearing the defensive glass like we did today.

** This should point us to this evening's unsung hero, Cam Corhen. Following up his impressive offensive output on Wednesday, Cam eventually contributed well on the defensive end with continued improvement in the physical nature he’s bringing to the court. It seems he’s settling in well and really figuring out his role on this Panther team.

** A little under a year ago, the Panthers offered plenty of highlights in Cameron Indoor to turn their season around. And the most memorable image of course wasn’t a Play of the Day that happened on the court, but what Blake offered in the moments after the final buzzer sounded.

** I don’t know what kind of highlights we can expect on Tuesday. But I’’m looking forward to it as much as any January game for maybe a decade or more.

** I also seem to recall that there was some discussion, either among Pitt fans or ESPN’s talking heads, that this ranking seemed way too low. True

** It makes one wonder if Zack took this personally. I doubt it; he's a pro

** After all, on this particular Saturday against Stanford, Zack gave us not just one, but two extremely Play of the Day worthy highlights to wow the Peterson Events Center Crowd!. ESPN will never give the same guy two Top Ten plays

** Was Zack’s Monster Rip-Away Block the most impressive physical defensive play since a certain Big Fella tossed another fella named Thabeet over his shoulder in Storrs in 2009? It just might have been. Different, but yes

** What made the Rip-Away even that much more Top 10 worthy was the perfect little intimidating look Zack gave to Stanford’s Toure, just enough to really make the point, but not too much raise the ire of the refs. Intense and awesome! The replay showed him giving Toure a bit of a glare, which was pretty cool

** But if that wasn’t enough for you, Zack’s reverse follow-up up slam of Cam’s miss in tight kept his highlight reel rolling. Quite the show! Had the reverse slam been "more emphatic" that would rank higher than the takeaway

Made shots, shot blocking, rebounds, and even some passing … it was all there tonight. GDG looked like a man out there. Not intimidated. That's what the team needs from him

They may not be the top two guards in the country but they are in the top five for sure

** More highlights were offered by Jorge Diaz Graham who is looking like he’d starting to turn into the quick trigger three point wing weapon many of us hoped Amsal would be. JDG has become a great shooter this year and has no fear

Eerily similar to the Cal game

** From the 10:07 mark of the first half until the 9:33 mark of the second half, the Stanford Cardinal scored just three field goals. Yep. 3. And just a total of 16 points in that same 20+ minute stretch too.

And even Raynuad wasn't much of a factor in this game at all in the final 30 minutes or so.

Cam looks very confident and comfortable playing as a full-time starter; great get on Capel's part

** A little under a year ago, the Panthers offered plenty of highlights in Cameron Indoor to turn their season around. And the most memorable image of course wasn’t a Play of the Day that happened on the court, but what Blake offered in the moments after the final buzzer sounded. Blake's "pose" on the courtside table is one I will always remember as one of Pitt's signature moments

** I don’t know what kind of highlights we can expect on Tuesday. But I’’m looking forward to it as much as any January game for maybe a decade or more. I watched a bit of the Duke v SMU game today; they are damn good. If we win again @ Cameron it'll be a miracle, but it's not impossible

Listening to the ESPN broadcast crew made me think of you DT……when they mentioned that Jorge and Guerllimo are the 9th set of brothers to play Pitt BB. I thought, if there’s anyone that can rapidly rattle off the other 8, it’s DT. I know I can’t.

I'm really starting to love this team's depth. We have so many guys that deserve minutes and it's only going to get harder to make sure everyone gets theirs when Damian is back. It's a great problem to have though. Coach Capel, i hope, can blend these guys together and keep them all happy. He has done a great job to this point of the season.

Geezz ... I'm kinda stumped by this one. I suspect most of these well well before my time. The only two that come to mind are Oliver and Orlando Antigua and Billy and Terry Knight.

Of course, Nelly and Brandon if they don't have to be there simultaneously.

Interesting how the season ebbs and flows. There have been times where it felt like we weren't as deep as we had hoped. Tonight, we got quality minutes from a number of guys. JDG has been maligned, and with good reason, since he's generally been a minus when he's gotten minutes. But tonight, he reminded us that he was actually the more impactful twin when they were freshmen and is a capable shooter. He definitely helped spark us in the first half when we were down. Perhaps, he's finally getting back to form after having dealt with injuries. And when the DG's are on the floor together, they have really nice chemistry.

As fans, we also always clamor for depth. Then when it looks like the team has it, you have to fret about all the guys getting time. Ultimately, it's more about the coach deploying the right guys at the right time. JC indeed seems to be pushing the right buttons there. Hopefully, he will continue to do so when Damian is back.

I still have high hopes for Amsal, but it was telling that JDG was given the opportunity tonight ahead of him. He just seems to still be struggling to find his place. Still doing too much at times. Needs to let the game come to him more than he is right now.

Overall, a very good team effort tonight. The team's confidence seems to be growing.

Looking forward to Tuesday's big test! #H2P

Just watched ACCN new show, Nothing But Net with Joel Barry and Luke Hancock. The Pitt v Stanford game got very little attention from the hosts. When they showed the current NET numbers among the Top 5 AAC teams, they were more interested in how Louisville (at 50) and FSU (not even among the top teams) are poised to make great strides forward. They did mention Duke (at 3) and indicated Pitt (at 12), but didn't even talk about this coming Tuesday matchup between the Blue Devils and Panthers. They were more excited about GT going to Syracuse and SMU this coming week! Amazing.

The GDG follow up was definitely the best play. You don’t give him the credit he deserves.

I asked Grok2 and ChatGPT to review your Dribbles over last 26 years and evaluate which players you least liked.

#1. GDG
#2. JDG
#3. Pepsi Souvenir Cups.

Sure - don’t know if they mean at the same time or not.
They don’t have to be there at the same time because Nellie and Brandon were the only other pair they mentioned when they first said Jorge and G were one of 9 brother pairs that played at Pitt.

Anyone know why capel seemed to think Jorge was a good matchup against Stanford? Obviously it was the right call because both he and Guillermo played great

I think they know people will tune into Duke-Pitt. They need to hype the other teams.

The Pepsi Cups are a great pull! All Hail the Twins! All Hail the Twins!! All Hail the Twins!!!

The twins playing like this is what I hoped was possible when I first saw them draining 3’s in practice three years ago . Seven footers burying 3’s is unstoppable . I was starting to feel like I’d never see this .

Watching Zac play this season is also a night and day difference . He had the look last year of a guy with incredible potential who just doesn’t get it done . Not this year !

Only time will tell how this season unfolds , but what a job JC has done after losing Bub and Blake .

Dunn’s return will make this team much tougher I just hope it doesn’t come at the expense of Cummings minutes . He adds an offensive dimension that no one else has .

Tuesday will tell us a lot , but they can’t get off to such a slow start .

Ps …where’s Vader been ?

Shout out to a good crowd even with partial student participation. I was a bit worried with the home Steeler game.

Gotta start quicker against Duke. Can't dig an early hole as it will be really hard to get out of.

This was the most balanced effort, offense and defense that I have seen this year. They did a great job of slowing the Stanford big down. Stanford really didn't have anyone else who could make an impact.

I am really excited about Dunn coming back soon. I just love his physicality.

As it relates to Nothing but Net, it does seem that Barry and Hancock were struggling to have good things to say about the ACC. Pitt is one of the good things but not a lot of depth in the conference at all.

Probably because Stanford has such a big lineup. I think that's why Cummings didn't play a lot too. He could really only come in for Leggett or Lowe yesterday, because of the size matchups.

The twins playing like this is what I hoped was possible when I first saw them draining 3’s in practice three years ago . Seven footers burying 3’s is unstoppable . I was starting to feel like I’d never see this . Who can forget the WVU big guy, Pittsnogle? Reynauld for Stanford was their 7'-er who buried 3's but Pitt's difference this year is having so many capable 3 point shooters. And when two of them (JDG and GDG) are hitting, and both are 7' tall, it's quite an asset to have

Watching Zac play this season is also a night and day difference . He had the look last year of a guy with incredible potential who just doesn’t get it done . Not this year ! Zack has definitely come of age this year. So many assets; defense, blocked shots, make 3's. Not saying he's an upgrade from Blake Hinson but he has certainly filled a goodly portion of his shoes. As an aside, wouldn't it be great if next year, Delacic has the GLF that Austin is having this year?

Only time will tell how this season unfolds , but what a job JC has done after losing Bub and Blake . Amen to that! If this season continues to progress as it has, he'll be a lock for ACC Coach of the Year

Dunn’s return will make this team much tougher I just hope it doesn’t come at the expense of Cummings minutes . He adds an offensive dimension that no one else has . Minutes distribution is either going to be a blessing or a curse for the team as the season progresses. JDG has certainly earned some PT; Cummings, for sure; Austin has not only accepted his role as starter but has embraced it. Who will get "left out"? Does Pitt go back to the original starting lineup of Leggett, Lowe, Dunn, GDG, and Corhen, or does Austin retain his role as starter and Dunn is brought in as the 6th man? Could be an interesting rotation. Good problem to have

Tuesday will tell us a lot , but they can’t get off to such a slow start . Probably not. Unlike some of the recent teams we've played and came back from deficits (VT, Cal, and Stanford), Duke will not have one great half and a second mediocre one. Still, this year's Pitt team has proven their mettle in every game except the road trip to MS State. My "hope" is that Tuesday's game will be more similar to our games vs OSU and Wisconsin

Ps …where’s Vader been ? Yeah, he's been rather quiet

This was my thought as well. I think also why Delalic didn’t play much either
