Um, and I thought we had it bad today.

Ten seconds left. Louisville has the ball 4th and 10 around the Stanford 45.

They elect to go for it, but throw what basically amounted to a Hail Mary for some reason. Was plenty of time to get in field goal range.

So Stanford takes over on downs with 4 seconds left. They check again and make it 5 seconds.

Stanford runs a ridiculous pass and the guy gets out of bounds after a 1 yard gain with 1 second left. They call Louisville for a hit out of bounds. I honestly didn't think it should have been called. Stanford now gets a shot at a 57 yard field goal.

Louisville jumps offsides. It's now a 52 yard field goal. It's good. And it probably wouldn't have been from 57.

Talk about giving a game away.

That's the sport of college football in a nutshell.

So Pitt and Louisville should both be very motivated to win

Good to know

The guy basically punched the Stanford player in the head way out of bounds about two seconds after the play was over. That's going to get called a penalty pretty much every time an official sees it.

It was a penalty. He twisted his leg 4 yards out of bounds and then got up and shoved the WR on the Stanford sideline.

If I was a Louisville fan I’d be pulling my hair out

That's what I thought I saw too.

I'm wondering if the Louisville player felt the Stanford player was trying to do something to him, because getting up and shoving the guy seemed like such a strange reaction.

Yeah, I'm not seeing a "punch to the head." I think the reason I'm not seeing it is because it never happened.

Dumb? Yeah. But I'm not calling that when it potentially decides the game. That's a weak call.

Yeah, it wasn't to the head, it was to the chest. My bad.

That is going to get called a penalty every single time. You might not like it, but you simply can't do that, especially several seconds after the play ends.

To me, that's a no-call. A gentle shove doesn't warrant 15 yards for me.

Exactly. I've see way worse happen than that right in front of an official and not be called. That's in no way something that gets called every time. Yeah, it's a penalty by the book. But I would expect a little more leeway when it's potentially giving a team a win and had zero effect on the outcome of a play.

I'm not a big fan of pushes being 15 yard penalties. I'd almost make those a 5 yard penalty somehow because its a physical sport. Guys get heated. Its emotional. A little push after the whistle shouldn't be penalized the same as trying to decapitate a sliding QB.
