Probably not but keep in mind, that Rivals rates far more kids as 3 stars now than in the past. I call it star inflation. 2 star kids of the past are now 3 stars. 1 star kids (which I dont even think is a thing anymore) are now 2 stars.
Thats why the star system is dumb.
If most players are rated 3 stars , and almost nobody a 1 ....
just go by the rating.

Right. I dont think there are 1 stars anymore and fewer 2 stars. So really there's only 4 star levels.
Its probably like
25% 2 star
50% 3 star
20% 4 star
5% 5 star
So Pitt is recruiting players from the 25th to 75th percentile while PSU is recruiting players almost solely from the 75th percentile
It was only a couple years ago that we were stealing players from PSU before signing day (aaron matthews) and beating them for prized recruits (Hamlin)
We only "stole" him (Mathews) because they had him as a DB, and we promised him WR.
When you look at their WR recruits compared to ours the last few years, you can see why they didn't recruit him as a WR. Right now, we aren't getting many chances at the guys they're recruiting.
I like our signees this year, and we really won't know if theirs will do better
on the field than ours; but on paper, they definitely are outrecruiting us.
