hmmmm, wasn't quite the line I had in mind.

Biz - Johnson - Bookser - Guy - O'Neil.

I'm assuming JJ Smith is not healthy yet as he didn't even practice on the 2nd unit. What is odd is that Officer did practice on the 2nd unit....if healthy enough, why not be with the 1's?

Guy and Bookser came out of spring ball as first on the depth chart because of injuries to others. So it makes sense they are first teamers day one in the fall....IMO that will change soon enough. As to your point on why JJSmith is not on second unit while Officer is, it's hard to say without being on the inside. Officer's injury/rehab may have been less severe then Smith's...just a guess. Regardless, what IS important is that if they're healthy enough, skill and experience will win out, and they'll both have the opportunity to move to the first unit.

Actually it's somewhat of a good thing in that it's giving practice time to a few others with the ones. I wouldn't be concerned unless it's still unchanged the week before the first game. An Offensive Line needs time to jell, so let's see when the changes are made (or maybe not made).

With injuries and the way they were platooned a couple of years ago, this unit is used to the "plug and play" that has gone on. It's a bit of a misconception that OL'men have to be together as a unit all of the time to be successful. Yes, one guys tendencies and strengths/weakness is different from another's but a good, well coached, OL unit has expectations of where everyone is to be and when and reacts the same way to signals.

There's so much depth, talent, and experience here that it's tough to worry about any of them. Plus guys will get banged up. I'd look for the top seven to see a lot of playing time, regardless.

Bookser needs reps at C with the first unit. He is the next guy in if Officer can't go.
