Hung in there for awhile best they could BUT, no pass rush and a lousy secondary contributed to this loss. Artie Burns(although only 7 games in) has been very disappointing. How many missed tackles does he have every game? Robert Golden got beat badly today and why was Timmons covering wideouts? Why did Tomlin not go for it in the 4th quarter on 4th and 2 midfield down by 11? A freaking 55 yard FG attempt??

Nothing positive to take away from this game but loads of negatives. Brady OWNS US and that looks to never change.

I honestly thought they played pretty well. Ben turns 2 of those 5 FG's into TD's and it's a different game.

Tomlin causes many head scratchers each week
Did anyone really expect them to win this game? I'm surprised it was this competitive. I was surprised at New England's lack of a pass rush though. That, and their pedestrian wide receivers may come back to bite them in the postseason. Pretty much every serious contender in the league has very serious flaws though. The standings are an absolute mess. Godell must love it, the league is truly wide open this year.

Run D has gone south. Heyward really makes THAT big of a difference?

Anyway, same story with this team. I'm not too content with 4-3... the Miami game and Philly game were such garbage, couldn't show up and they're lucky the rest of the division hasn't been good.

I guess they have holes. Ben is out. Heyward is out. 2 OLine starters are out. Ryan Shazier is hobbled. D'Angelo Williams was in street clothes.

Yes, the Steelers have holes.

the steelers have more gaping holes than a european swingers club

Of course they have holes. They have a shit load of injuries.
I believe they had 10 guys out or hurt during game(counting coates and brown) and those 10 aren't including Dupree or the TE from SD or the pot head. Thats a ton of injuries. I don't expect to them to be completely healthy but thats way more than a normal amount of injuries at this point in season. If they can get healthy they are going to still have some flaws but they can be a good team.

Martavis Bryant, Marcus Wheaton, Sammie Coates' broken fingers might help out the WR's.
Marcus Gilbert and Ryan Harris might help out the OL...which played great today.
Ladarius Green would greatly help out the passing game if healthy.
DeAngelo Williams might be helpful giving Bell a breather.
Ben Roethlisberger greatly improves the QB play.
Cameron Heyward helps out the DL.
Bud Dupree assists the pass rush....Jarvis Jones had a great game.
Ryan Shazier's injured knee helps out the run defense and coverage units.
Senquez Golston ...who knows what he could do to help the secondary.

They played an extremely healthy Patriots with a very banged up squad. They definately exceded my expextations today and I'm pleased with the performance.

Agree with you on the 4th quarter field goal attempt. Actually he should have made that decision on 3rd and 2 - that way they have 2 plays to get the 2 yards -run Bell on 3rd down and again on 4th if need be.

Brady, more than any qb in the league, takes what the defense gives him. He has no problem throwing 8 yard pass after 8 yard pass all the way to the end zone if the defense is determined to take away the deep ball. Most other good qbs have varying amounts of Brett Favre in them, and are always itching to force the ball downfield for the big play. The old "gunslinger" mentality.

Terrible drafting comes back to bite them in the a$$.so many wasted picks.one had to start at qb today.
who played better than probably half of the rest of the nfl starting qbs yesterday...

that holding penalty that negated the Pittsburgh touchdown really turned the game around

To be in first place in the division and will still have a half-game lead if the Bengals win next week makes me feel somewhat good about this team. The bye week came at the perfect time before heading to Baltimore, where the Steelers always seem to play poorly. I hope the Steelers have as much energy as it displayed yesterday when facing Baltimore in two weeks, but I don't trust them.

The Steelers played without...

Their QB. A pretty good one I would add.
Their back RB. A not so bad one I may add.
Their 2 and 3 WR's. Not to mention their 4th WR was hurt and shouldn't have and barely played. Plus their #1 WR got hurt.
Their projected TE.
Their Pretty darn good RT.

Their best DL
Their best LB played half the time and coming off injury.
Their #1 draft pick OLB.who has yet to play.

Brady "owns" the Steelers, but let's face it, New England had a bit of an advantage yesterday, don't you think?

It amazes me! Ben isn't missing from the defense and I watch them get killed each week. The HC Tomlin stands on the sidelines with a blank stare ( iike hes confused) and his arms crossed.
I this the man is in the wrong business!

The Oratorio is in the wrong business. He belongs on a soap box spouting off compound complex sentences that make no sense.

Their points per game is 14th out of 32 in the NFL. Over 50% of the league is giving up over 22 points per game. It's not the 90's anymore, it's a passing/big play league anymore and only a handful of teams have a true defense....and they sacrifice their offense as a result.

14th in the league in scoring with a QB who's supposed to be a hall of fame QB? What a joke-Fathead Ben, the most over rated QB of all time. And in this a big play league, the Oratorio and Haley are still concerned about establishing a running game- perhaps that's because they Know Fathead is a scatter armed, inconsistent brittle QB.

good thing the AFC North is bad this year, 10-6 record easily wins the division. Steelers beat the ravens in 2 weeks, we are sitting pretty. Not bad for having 1/2 our team hurt or suspended..

hope one day we get to see Bryant and Coates with Ben. Those two with AB could be fun to watch.

You are a poor reader.

True but we've played some really bad teams and given up big points!
The schedule is important. We've had a favorable schedule that we're not taking advantage of!

Scoring defense, not scoring offense.

without cam heyward on the defensive line... he's pretty much the keystone of the D

Lolwhat. Please tell me you're trolling
So you're another believer in all the fahead Ben propaganda? He's an over rated brittle primma donna who plays about 5 really good games per year-been that way for years. Wake up. Look what he's done this year to date-other than the KC game he's been a game manager.

"game manager" - are you stuck in 2005? Ben reminds me more of Brett Favre lately in the sense that he can amaze you with his brilliance but also make his share of mistakes. Ultimately though, still a top QB in this league right now especially, with all of the Sam Bradfords, Brock Osweilers, Case Keenums etc.

I can agree that he needs to play better on the road, but ultimately when you look at this team's problems, there's way more to look at.

I'm guessing you're one of those people that has something against Ben personally though which is whatever, but all of you that underappreciate him just wait until he's gone. I'm sure things will be pretty then.

They ONLY gave up 27, they had about 3 RZ chances where they didn't score, if Ben is there it's a different game, it was more competitive than I expected with the Laundry man in there.
