Well the "hometown" announcers made a point of going over how Winston torched Pitt in 2013 by going 25 of 27.

Total a$$clowns!

I’m sitting in the stands and can say I hate the vantage point and listening to Steeler fans that know next to nothing about football.

Considering the number of Steeler fans that are members of the cult of paterno that isn't surprising

Mason Rudolph will be a good QBs in this league but it won’t be with Steelers.

Opposing teams will hit passes in seam to TE all year on us with bush covering them. He will be good but his height is a weakness in the passing defense with TEs being a 1/2’+ taller then him.

Hoping Washington can have a break out year, we will need it.

If the Steelers feel that way I doubt he’ll be going anywhere.

I know Ben just signed an extension but if they believe he’s gonna be good he’s not going anywhere. They can’t let any good QB go anywhere with where Ben is in his career.
They have dobbs. You can’t have your 3rd string an tied up making millions. He’s be foolish to resign with Steelers unless he was guaranteed starter job. He won’t be guaranteed starter spot.

Fair enough. But do you think Dobbs will be good too? I don’t think it’s too crazy to think Rudolph overtakes him for the #2.

And that’s an Honest question - I don’t watch much preseason and am somewhat of a lapsed fan overall. I’ll watch but just not nuts about it anymore.

I think Rudolph is better but that doesn’t necessarily mean they will sign him going forward. I don’t know, what the hell do I know.

I like Dobbs more than most. Great size. Really smart guy. Good arm. The intangible of the great speed and running ability, as he showed earlier. He did make a crappy throw for a pick too however. But Ben does that all the time. :D

I say keep 3 qbs on roster, use 1 as trade bait for draf picks -- much like Pat's did w/ Garrafalo.
No one wants Dobbs. Rudolph has higher ceiling but we just extended Ben. See if anyone would trade anything for Rudolph and use that 3rd string QBs spot for the guy that played last night that they are high on.

People care about preseason games?
Ski, I completely hear and understand ye..................but as a Pittsburgher and someone who lives here......when you saw the Pens swept in 4 in Rd 1, the Pirates become and absolute debacle..........preseason football actually seems like an interesting alternative. (Caveat, it wasn't interesting enough to have the two gin and tonics consumed in the 1st half have me fall asleep completely old man style last night during the second half).

Really? Why he's white? He looked pretty damn good honestly. I like what Dobbs brings legs wise. But I think Rudolph will be a starter in the league at some point. The Steelers are well stocked at the position.
I don’t think he has now- nor had in college - a strong enough arm.
I said as much prior to him being drafted - because people have the distorted view since he - like every qb with a pulse- torched Pitt

Not too worried about the games, try and pick out a few things from each game. Washington looked good, Bush is fast but short, our CB layne plays the softest cushion on the planet.

That’s about it. Game was boring

I really like Rudolph but the timing was wrong here in Pittsburgh. Bens Head games, he might retire last year now he wants to play 5 more years. I like him but he’s a drama queen.

Rudolph has high ceiling, think another team could do something with him. Dobbs is a mediocre backup, could come in short term and not be horrible. If you need him for a full 2+ games or more, you aren’t making playoffs.

I remember watching the ‘17 draft and there were about 10 players drafted in first few rds and they rolled their highlights. Smh, never saw so much pitt on ESPN in my life. Our defense I kid you not was in every freakin highlight.

Pitt defense made millions for a lot of players over the years. You’d think we’d get a cut or something.

Lol. Always said that the Gratkowski guy or whatever his name from Toledo who squeaked into the NFL and hung on as a backup for so many years, owes a nice royalty to Paul Rhoads and Walt for allowing him to complete like 65 passes in that upset in 03 or whenever. The most abysmal defensive coaching in Pitt history and that's saying something. Put that guy's name all over Espn though.

He was proven to throw a game while in college. Bruce. He skated on that one.

I can’t say I’ve seen the reason for the Rudolph love.

In my case it's not love, but he's already at least as good as Dobbs and he's been here one fewer season. I actually think both Rudolph and Dobbs are fine as backup QBs, but I wouldn't want either one to be a long term starter at this point. Which is the same situation that more than half the NFL teams find themselves in.

Rudolph looked good yesterday, but being good throwing to 4th string receivers against 4th string defenders doesn't really mean much. The NFL preseason needs to be shortened. 2 weeks. Every franchise gets to host one home game.

Over 45k were in the stadium... sad part.. 95% thought it was the super bowl...

All about the money.. the ticket price in 139 was close to 60 bucks... I'd never pay it, my three were from one of my vendors..

I agree, 2 games make perfect sense.

if you get a high first rounder, then yes, I might make that trade. I thought the guy they were high on did some good things, throws a little sidearm, but has nice arm and was accurate ( had a drop or two and forced a pass, but I can see why they are high on him -- he makes plays (although I dont remember him throwing anything deep). But I agree about Dobbs, dont think there is much market for him -- nice kid though.

A high first rounder? Surely you jest.

Do you know what it takes to get an NFL team to part with a high first round draft pick (rhetorical question)?

I can’t see anyone on the Steelers roster that would command a high first rounder. Nevermind a largely unknown quantity.

I’d actually bet if they traded Rudolph they’d get a later pick than when he was drafted. Much later.

We couldn’t get a first rd for bell or brown (arguably the best rob and wr in the game), we aren’t getting one for mason Rudolph.

Realistically speaking, no nfl team us giving up anything for an nfl 3rd string QB.

Rudolph signed a 4 year deal which means his contract is up the same time as Ben’s (unless the IPAs have killed my math skills). So again if they believe in him he ain’t going anywhere.

And what’s funny is that where he was drafted pissed off a lot of people. With the thought being they should be loading up as much as they could to try and win another with Ben.
