Stillers - Browns

In a way the 9-8 season is a small success considering the 2-6 start, but had they not thrown up all over themselves against the Jets and Dolphins, wouldn't even be an issue right now. Regardless they fought to a 9 win season. Sure they schedule was easier in the 2nd half but you can only play who is put in front of you.

Onto the draft, Canada should be relieved of duties by 415 pm today and start scouting the UFA wire
To your last sentence, I think it is generally the week after the season when guys get let go if they will be let go, right?

Winning games is all that matters.
Once the team came together behind Pickett and the O line played better, the Steelers are like 6-1.

Breaking in a rookie QB, that is a good season. Next season should be better.
Tomlin's record is incidental, but the record is the record, and he owns it.
This is my hope and thoughts. Trev Lawrence showed how difficult it is for a rookie last year, this year Trev has really progressed. Looking forward to Ballgame's sophomore campaign

Oh well. Slightly better draft pick
They weren't winning SB anyway.
Bloodbath in Buffalo avoided.
KP played well, that's all I wanted.
Tomlin's consecutive winning season record intact.
I didn’t see today’s game but seeing posts in this thread during the game and looking at stats (13-29 for 195), doesn’t sound like KP played that great today.

Also noted in the stats, DJ only 2 completions on 10 targets. Not good.

I'll be honest, I can't say I ever paid attention to the timing. But you'd like to think if this isn't settled within a few weeks it might not. Unless the organization will wait until the end of the Super Bowl.

Now I'm gonna be glued to the rumor wire.

it's just sad that this is deemed a success amongst steeler fans now. im so old, i remember when winning a playoff game mattered. This steeler organization isnt your father's steelers any more, that's for sure..

9-8 non playoff team in the new standard..
WTF are you ranting about??

Would it be better to you if they lost this game???
If Tomlin is Marvin Lewis, then you are Mark Madden.

Yup they were going to get crushed in the playoffs anyway. So the higher draft pick helps a little

I would really like to see them bring in a few true professional WRs. Guys that have been around 5-8 years, consummate professionals that can help the younger guys in the room and provide consistency for Pickett. That and an improved LT would make a world of difference for this crew along with the young guys just getting a little older and better.

I also would be surprised to see them completely revamp the inside of their defense except Fitzpatrick. The ILBs, the NTs, other safety position though I think Edmunds played a lot better than some give him credit for. I think they need more team speed on defense.

9-8 in what was clearly a rebuilding year speaks to culture. Guys continued to play hard and improve. Next season hopefully will bring next steps.

Who thinks that going 9-8 and not making the playoffs is a success?

That's how ridiculous this argument has become. Stiller fans wishing the Stillers would lose just so Mike Tomlin has a losing record to break some streak.

Like I said, we are at the point where way more people were mentioning the streak because they wanted it to end than because they thought it was a sign of success. Which is, quite frankly, pathetic.

The Steelers need to somehow contend for the Super Bowl every season or the franchise needs to be burned to the ground. Pure yinzer logic.

Refs need to understand that they shouldn't be throwing flags in close/tie games under a minute left for questionable at best penalties. That 15 yard penalty they called on the Jets for that horse collar flag was so damn awful. Refs just gave Miami the game.

League should be ashamed, the refs in recent years have gotten so bad.

no steeler fans want him or them to lose. your strawman argument is beyond silly..

and no one cares about this silly streak. when you havent won a playoff game in over 1/2 a decade, celebrating 9-8 is pathetic at best..

He didn’t play “great” but he made the throws when he needed to. Dropsson didn’t help. He missed a few throws too but all qbs do. For a rookie he finished strong

If you watched the jags game Lawrence didn’t set the world on fire. Missed a wide open TD

You can't have been on this board all this time and posted that with a straight face. The fact of the matter is that there are several people on here who have been arguing for weeks that it would be better if the Stillers lost so they could get a higher draft pick.

The only strawman argument being made here is by the people who are arguing that there are people who think that going 9-8 and missing the playoffs is a successful season. No one, literally no one, thinks that. But when you hate the coach you are sometimes resigned to arguing nonsense like that.

The Jets supposed horse collar was shown again. Man, that was far too borderline to have been called IMO. Looked just like a tough tackle that’s seen (and not called) every other play in every game.
just watched it, weak call to say the least..

Well, hopefully Mark Madden was watching the game while eating a ham sandwich in bed.
Pulled a Mama Cass on Tomlin's record going forward, and KP throwing a TD pass with no Picks.

That definitely is the logic of some frequent posters herein, posters that I’m pretty sure don’t characterize themselves as Yinzers.

Yeah, I saw that real real bad TD Miss by Lawrence yesterday. The announcers couldn’t get over how bad he missed that wide open TD.

Bengals were laughed at because of the criminal element on their team and were disliked because of Burflict. One criticism of Tomlin this year was wasting games starting that scrub Trubisky

I thought a horse collar had to grab the collar, which he didn't do.

Congrats to Tomlin on another winning season that results in nothing. Where was this coach the first half of the year? So, the Steelers get a lousy draft pick and Tomlin gets his winning season. No playoff appearance. If the goal is to win championships, this season was a failure. At least if you make the playoffs, you have a chance. In the last decade, what exactly has he done in terms of playoff appearances and wins? Why is he considered great?

Tomlin is not a great coach. Prove me wrong.

We’re going to really find out this off-season what Omar Khan is about. Has a lot of flexibility with what he can do. Will be interesting to see what unfolds.
Having the 2nd hand man who help build a deep eagles team in the front office has me feeling good. can't wait to see what these two do with this flexibility... we have a chance to have a big shot of young/prime talent joining this team through the draft/FA.

Almost every coach
It’s why he’s never had a losing season
You’re not posting that with a straight face are you? One can definitely debate how good Tomlin is or isn’t and make good points on both sides of the debate. But you sure can’t use Tomlin’s record on replay challenges as a point in his favor, or even argue as you’re suggesting that he’s on par with almost every coach in that regard.
