been monitoring tickets for PSU game out of curiosity for quite some time and currently the cheapest one for 2ppl is $235 in row BB of 505.
Glad I got season tickets!
Curious what prices will be through scalpers.

Try the night before the game and the morning of the game. Got my Coldplay tix the day before concert. 75% less than 6 weeks before concert.

That may work for concerts but it doesn't for sporting events. Tried your idea for the Pirates wild card game and they were actually the highest the day of the game.
I already have tickets, I was just very surprised how expensive they are.
Steelers playoff game tickets are cheaper.

They'll be around face value the night before or day of the game. 95% of the time, ticket prices drop drastically as brokers compete with each other to get rid of tickets.

The problem with this theory is not many brokers bought up the tickets.

Gotcha. Never tried for sporting event other than Super Bowl in Detroit. I bought my ticket two hours before the game and it was half of what the tix were going when I got to Detroit on that Friday.

In my experience, this can only help ticket prices come down, maybe even a little sooner. The people selling that have no interest in going will panic faster than a broker. Although my feeling is the tickets that are out there now are in the hands of "I'm going unless I get a huge sale price." In that instance, ticket prices remain steady the whole way through.

Your last point hit the nail on the head. People aren't going to sell these tickets unless they get an astronomical amount.

Happens all the time for sporting events, it just depends on the situation. I imagine they will get cheaper, but not astronomically on places like Stubhub. Probably be able to buy get-ins day of for about face.
