I really enjoyed being in the stadium today and you did a great job. I was also really impressed with the the rest of the crowd which was much more boisterous than usual and not afraid to stand.

I have to admit that the students staying also kept the majority to stick around until the very end. I actually think the students have something to do with the rest staying. The players were obviously feeding off the students enthusiasm and the rest of the crowd followed.

Again, well done.

Completely agree. Students brought their a game. 80% easily stayed until the end. I even had the luxury of being able to stand and cheer loud during the game and others around joined in. Great game from everyone involved

There was a lot of fan participation at the game today, people were standing, cheering buying in to the effort of the team especially the defense.

I agree.. I am in the South Club, and people were on their feet and loud more than any game I remember in a while..

Big props to the students. I hope they realize that they not only energize the team, but also the old head fans outside the student section.

As a student, I was actually very surprised at the number of people who stayed. Hopefully this starts a snowball effect into later games and I'M SO HAPPY that many of the adults actually stood up and cheered for a large portion of the game today. When the students and adults all work together, we make big things happen for the team (multiple penalties and that safety). Quite frankly it makes no sense when we criticize each other since we're cheering for the same team, but we ALL stepped our game up yesterday and it needs to continue for the rest of the year.

This is my junior year and this past game ranks tied for 3rd with VT last year, only behind ND and FSU 2 years ago. I almost lost my voice from yelling so much. Against VIRGINIA. Never in a million years did I think that was going to happen. WE ALL need to keep up this same atmosphere in later games. I loved it, and the students did too.

17, do the students know that there is a string of 7 or 8 underutilized buses on General Robinson St after the game? They were all empty after the YSU game but I did see some students after VA game.

Nice improvement by students and fans cheering and staying to end of game!

Athletics has been hitting the new busing locations hard, and it's just a matter of time before students learn to stop going in the same old line near the T that always has long wait times. The problem is, most students just follow the crowd and that bus spot is where 90% of students are used to going in past years.

Overall there has been lots of improvement and I think that by the end of the season there will be a noticeable difference. I left the game about 5 minutes after it ended and I got on one of the General Robinson buses right when I walked up to them, it was fantastic.

Did you or anyone else happen to notice the crowds/underutilized buses at other locations? If so I can work on advertising those spots.

I sit right next to the student section. One of the best atmospheres from them since I was in the student section in '09, more specifically the ND game. The F*** Penn State chant was pretty random, but I'm always down to diss the Nitters. Very young kids sitting near me too, so I doubt their parents were thrilled, but that's college. If that's the worst thing our students do at games, I think we've got classier students than 95% of the country. Now, the chants during next year's Penn State game might be a little over the top, and quite frankly James Franklin and co. deserve to hear every one of them.

The gold towels were a good idea. I hope that they do something like that again for the North Carolina game. Would look good on national TV.

Shame that on National TV, being it's a Thursday it's gonna be a really bad crowd IMO. I encourage anyone who can make it to go to the game. Gonna be a big game for Pitt and the crowd against Virginia was great as far as getting into the game. Dead crowds usually lead to a stale performance by the team.

Or is it that stale performances by the team usually lead to dead crowds? I can never keep those two straight.
Haha it's pretty much both. The crowd (or lack-of) is there before the game and they usually come out flat when nobody's there. Then after losing that game, nobody shows up the next week either.
Needless to say, winning brings fans and players feed off the crowd's energy, sometimes leading to wins.
