Successful Year 1 in G-league for Blake

In the 34 game regular season, he averaged 20.1 PPG on 38.3% 3 point shooting. His age works against him as he'll be 26 in December but I think there is a shot he can land on a roster at some point.
Even if he never suits up in the NBA, I'm sure he's making a decent living compared to other 26-year-olds. Playing a game he loves and excels at is not a bad gig

Unfortunately, not really. He isn't on a 2 way and the average G-league salary is only $40K/year, which is why it is insanely stupid for any underclassman not absolutely guaranteed to be a 1st Rounder to leave college early. 2nd Round NBA Talent is now making 7 figures in college when those guys are in jeopardy of falling to the G-league.

Hinson will have an interesting choice. Does he take a lucrative overseas contract and all but give up the NBA dream or continue to grind for 40K in the G-league for that shot in the NBA. It's a really difficult choice.

Any idea of what the average 26-year-old earns annually? (OK, it's probably at least 40k, maybe more) But Blake only plays 34 games to earn it? And he could eventually see either an NBA roster or play internationally and earn 6-7 figures? And he's doing something he likes and is good at? That's my definition of a "good gig"

He played 50 games actually. They do a 16 game "tip-off tournament" at the beginning where he didn't do as well. Only 12 PPG, probably adjusting to the league.

Blake is one of my all-time favorite Panthers and I'm hoping he makes it or at least makes really good money somewhere playing basketball. No idea what his actual salary was for Santa Cruz but even if it was the league average, it's still a "good gig" for a 25 year old.

I liked Blake as well. Hopefully one of the two portal players we got this year (like Blake, former Cyclones) will develop similarly as Hinson

Hinson signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Warriors, which includes bonuses for players who stay in the G League for at least 60 days. Hinson's bonus was reported to be the maximum allowable of $75,000.

Nice to hear. What's the difference between Exhibit 10 and a 2 way?

An Exhibit 10 contract is basically a G League contract. You can go to training camp with the NBA team, but if they want to keep you you have to sign to a regular NBA contract. So I guess in some ways it's like a tryout contract with the NBA team, but with a guaranteed G League deal if/when you don't make the NBA team. But as I said, the other feature of those contracts is to give the player an incentive to play in the G League they can include bonuses of up to $75,000 if the player stays at least 60 days. Hinson's been there all year, so he would have been paid his bonus a while ago.

A two way contract is a contract with the NBA team that allows them to assign a player to the G League, but also bring them up to the NBA team when they want/need to. But there is a limit on the number of NBA games a guy on a two way can play in one season. Not too long ago the Lakers had to waive Cam Reddish because one of the guys they had on a two way, Jordan Goodwin, had used up his maximum number of NBA games but they wanted him on the NBA roster and they were already at the roster limit. So they waived Reddish and signed Goodwin to a regular NBA contract.
