P.Jones for Hendrix
Brightwell for Zeise
Pinnock for Motley
Campbell for Briggs
Ford for Hamlin

(Ford or ) Butler or Smith or Street for Mathews

Anyone who can hold for place kicks
Anyone that can (fairly) consistently convert short field goals and extra points
Ford to return punts

Why play useless seniors and hold younger players back?

Hendrix can start. For the most part they play 7-8 DL a good bit. Also, Jones does play inside in some of the sub defenses. But, definitely if Hendrix does not show some spark, uptick Jones at his spot and see if that lights a fire under him.
I think they feel Zeise plays better in coverage, but should definitely get Brightwell in the game more.
I like Pinnock a good bit, his spot has been the most "volitile" in terms of being 1st team vs 3rd team. Not sure what that is about. Motley has played pretty well so far, so it isn't a glaring issue, but would definitely like to see Pinnock play.
Teams are now targeting Briggs like they did Webb. Heck, PSU's first TD on the long jet sweep, they set it up to isolate him. IF they want to have a upfield S, then Campbell needs to play and work it out to get the experience he needs (Nards even talked him up in his press conference). I get them sticking with Hamlin to let him work it out, but it is exasperating to see them not use Ford as the fifth DB at the very least - either as a safety or corner.
Unfortunately, we most likely are going to see them continue to run Briggs out there.

Also coach has already named players who have had some successes against GT...you know...a tackle here or there...so they will play first for you Briggs fans...

Zeise is not atrocious or anything. He's just an ordinary bad player. But Brightwell is consistently near the ball and actually makes a splash play once or twice a season. Zeise shouldn't see the field unless Brightwell is injured. Continuing to sit their best OLB is idiotic.

Evidently players are blowing assignments in practice.

Maybe at this point about the only hay we can make with recruits, is that WE (unlike those other shallow programs that relentlessly play their BEST players) give our solid average guys a chance, and then stick with them, all the way through their senior years? To better give them a chance to improve and build a resume to be sniffed by pro teams at least for camp invitations?

I admit that started out to be sarcastic, but in the middle of it I realized it might make as much sense as anything else. I simply don't know anymore. It's tough to be a fan of this program, man...

The lineup change needed most desperately is the entire schedule.....

A poster here said it best....The fan base and money needed to play today’s P5 football is leaving Pitt in the dust.

Zeise is a good example of my remarks above. Started out at receiver, showed little there. We moved him to LB, though with minimal right to expect him to be any good at it. And he lived down to that! Accomplished nothing there, as most should have figured.

So another program would have
Darwined him right to special teams, or more likely, to IUP where his level seems better suited.

But no, we have stuck with him ... and stuck with him ... and stuck with him some more. To his credit he's bulked up, he seems far stronger than years past. He has improved ... marginally. And as he walks out of here, he can provide a resume showing he started at a P5 program for better part of 3 years. Somewhere in some NFL camp needing practice fodder, or a CFL team, they'll extend him a courtesy invite to a camp. And he will get his unlikeliest of chances to be a pro. Pitt in turn can tell other recruits "come here and we'll stick by you and get you a shot in the pros". Well, maybe not if you're a four star... those we seem willing to abandon (or suspend or expel) at the slightest miscue ... but we ain't getting them anymore anyway...

DE - Weaver, Jones
DT - Camp, Roy, Hendrix
LB - SB, SI, QW
FS - Ford
SS - Campbell
CB - Jackson, Mathis,

Oline - Steph, CD, Morrisey, Bookser, Houy - But I would consider moving steph inside (LG) and using a younger more athletic kid at (LT)
FB/TE - no change
WR- Shocky, Mack, French
RB - no change
Qb - More attempts

PR - Shocky
KR - Shocky / French

Need special teams points. Get speed out there. (Ford clearly isn't mentally able to play multiple roles so I'd rather see him playing center field at FS.

Need speed on offense to complement power run game.

Defense needs player makers.

Again HCPN forgets 100,000 times more than I know about football, but I would like to see these changes to help negate some of our lack of high end recruiting talent.

I've always said all coaches are basic and fundamental. If they have better talent then you and do the same thing... what does that say about your chances? Great coaches either have better talent (Saban) or they create situations that make other teams uncomfortable so they're players have the upper hand (Dabo until he got talent).

Has anyone ever asked narduzzi WHY Briggs starts?

Because he is the best tackler on the team. THIS IS WHY HE STARTS! It has been said many times.

Did you see how badly Hamlin played? Briggs wasnt the problem.

That being said, I would play anyone there as an open audition. Although, I am telling you we WILL get burned at GT with inexperience in there. You need discipline against the option.

stop it with this nonsense of him being the best tackler on the team, that's beyond depressing if there was even an ounce of truth to this.

I get the argument for experience but damned if I don't see this "experience" resonate on the field.

it isnt nonsense. He jacks people up, that is his only strength (and knowing the system from 5 years of it).

And, YES, it is depressing! That is why I predicted 6-6 season. We have little LBs (Except Wirginis) and little cb playing, our Dline is blah at best... we dont have the exceptional talent to run the defense. However, we are running it well with what we do have.

Lopes is probably our best receiver at finding open space.

Would like to see if Gragg can play (Know he had a bad penalty)

Wheeler has shown a flash or two. Would like to see Twyman get a chance at NG. Herndon looked good on DL at end of last season. We need to find some play makers there. Freshmen Morgan and Danielson if others are incapable.

Pinnock looked good in limited playing time last season.

We do need to stop starting seniors of limited capability. There is no sensible explanation for that.

I would love to agree with you and he may be the best option this week vs a GT run game if your point is true. However when you need to play in space and make plays on the edge and get to the ball fast - well he is not our best option period. I like him Briggs has came here and worked his tail off and became a better player, but the reality is he plays better when teams don't spread him out. You can't be a good tackler when you can't physically get to the ball carrier (it's tough to admit but its true at times)

I'm not sure he would start at a MAC school

A good coaching staff adjusts their schemes with the personnel they have .Thats why an upset will happen now and again.Good planning and preparation are keys to this. Then last but not least a good kicking game can save your ass.PSUs punter should of gotten a game ball.

Just watched the replay. We made so many mistakes in the 1st half (players and coaches). We should have had the lead without question. The air went out of the balloon going into the half. PS made better adjustments and stepped up their game in the second half. PS shut down our run game with their adjustments and we had no answer. We just continued spiraling out of control. This had to be the worst overall special teams performance I have seen led by the Punter/Holder.

What assignment is there for a safety? Suppprt run and no one behind you! Unless they have the safeties playing man, how hard is it to figure who your man is? That is bullshit, Briggs should not even be at Pitt and Tomlin will be another Briggs!
