I attended the game in Atlanta yesterday and man am i glad i did:
1. I had no idea how big Bobby Dodd stadium but liked the stadium in the heart of the campus. GT fans couldnt have been nicer, my buddy is a GT season ticket holder ( though a PSU gras) but had great seats.
2. I had a feeling this would be a brutal game, both physically and to watch. I respect coach Johnson but always fear playing that team.. So difficult to play.
3. Early in the game, GT was getting to the edges on us by influencing our d one way and reversing it with. We got killed on pitches where the rb for gt was allowed to run clear. Our mlb and de were consistently and effectively cut.
4. One of the keys in first half was our ability to consume clock. Kinda weird in that we had the time consuming drives and gt hit us with big plays.
5. Boyd, love him to death, is making me nervous returning punts. It was very very sunny but he did it in vt game too.
6. Early in the second half gt starts their drive on their own 15 and drop back to pass on first and second down in a tie game. Man didnt get that boy was i glad they did. Anytime gt passes its a bonus for us .
7. I would have punted but that kick looked good the minute it left his foot. Speaking of punters, Winslow had a great great game.
8. If you get a chance go to the college football of fame, really well done.
9. Nice adjustement by staff, shot more gaps, had more movement from their front to keep cut blockers off their lb and i thought widened their ends to hold edges better.
10. GT had one td drive in second half and Wiggins was in on it. Thought he misread a few dive plays and overran them.
11. Great call on the Voytik roll, JP was wide open but didnt turn or Chad threw it too early.
12. Michigan my goodness. No words.
13. We are not a great team but we are getting great effort and great coaching. I would not project one bit, gotta win at syracuse thats all. We arent good enough to project right now.
14. That Barkeley RB for Penn State is really good. Extra gear, great vision.
15. Rutgers comes back from 25 pts down? Wow. And i guess the Iowa loss aint looking so bad.
16. Good for coach, im thinking he learned from not going for it against Iowa. You could see players telling him to go for it on fourth down..
17. From my vantage point at the stadium, it looked like our rbs ran hard but missed several holes. Hall and Ollison run very much the same way but James gives you more big play potential. James should be getting more carries in my POV.
18. Chaney keeps getting better. Great run/mix balance, put Peterman in mangeable third down spots, protected him for the most part. Hes really getting a feel for his personel.
19. Im really hoping the team isnt too physically worn from this game, especially the big hogs. Seeing Jarrett and Render getting cut is nerve wracking. Those are big bodies getting wacked on their legs so you hope the toll wasnt too much.
20. 5 - 1 feels great, heading into oct and nov with meaningful games. Onto Cuse.
