Washenitz's playing time particularly doesn't make any sense. She got three minutes in the first, and certainly didn't really do anything with those minutes. And then she played about a minute and a half in the 2nd, and didn't even get on the court in the 3rd. And the only reason why she came in in the 4th was because Day Harris went flying into the courtside seats saving a steal for Pitt and they took her out for a minute to make sure she was OK. And of course at that point all she did was make a three, and then get a steal, and then turn the ball over, and at that point Harris was ready to come back in but it was like hey, she's actually doing stuff (not all of it good), we might as well leave her in and take someone else out.
But if it wasn't for Harris needing to come out there she would have played less than five minutes for the game. When she has been a starter and regular contributor, and someone that you surely have to be counting on being a big part of the team going forward.
Channise Lewis is another one. She's had games where she hasn't even played. Today, if they didn't play her today they could have lost by 50. They were down 12 late in the first when she came into the game. It was no coincidence that that was when Pitt finally started to play better. No one else on the team seemed to have ever seen a press or an attacking 1-3-1 defense before. If it wasn't for her they never get back into that game. She doesn't pile up the stats, and my god, her outside shot it simply awful, but she runs the team. She gets the ball to people where they need to be getting the ball. She calms the whole team down. And yet sometimes she doesn't even get off the bench.
