Looks like NCAA Men’s Soccer is close to approving the two-semester model.

This is not being considered for Women’s Soccer at this time, but I would imagine it will follow suit in the near future.

It won't follow suit for women. They dont want it and dont need it. The rest of the world doesn't play women's soccer so the NCAA girls dont need to train 24/7 like the men. They can mess around from September-November then be a regular college student and go play in the NWSL without any competition from foreigners.

As always, you can’t just state your opinion without finding a way to put down women’s sports. The D1 Women’s players that I know train and condition every bit as much as men’s players. In fact, most agree that this time of year is 10x harder than during the regular season. There are 3-4 6 a.m. workouts and training sessions per week along with multiple other team building and team culture activities.

Cool but there's a reason they unanimously don't want it. Its because they dont need it and want to be college kids. Its ten trillion times easier for a D1 woman to become a pro than a D1 man. Men face global competition.

If you look at different conference schedules for women, the turn around time to play can be quite fast with limited recovery time, add in travel time. It can be a grind for both men and women to play 2 games a week. What is the issue with extending the season to spring. I’d offer December - January as a mid season recovery time.
I did read that FSU womens coach is gone. No idea what the reasoning is, maybe retirement or something bigger for him. Not a bad way to leave with that success.

Cool picture of a bunch of ACC players asking for NCAA to vote for the 21st century model.

How is this even a discussion? The men's programs overwhelmingly want it.

Between exhibition and spring games, they get like 22-23 games, so just spread it out. What's the big deal?

Using next year as an example:

Season starts August 13

1 game per week until Thanksgiving weekend (16 games). Winter break like many pro leagues in colder climates do until March 4. 7 more games until April 15. ACCT from April 22-29. NCAAT from May 5 until Memorial Day. College Cup Semifinals played on Thursday and Monday instead of Friday night and Sunday afternoon to allow for recovery
