I want to start out by telling everyone to temper all the " we are gonna crush PSU banter". Do I hope it happens...absolutely, however I expect a close game. I feel better about this game not from watching football this past weekend, but from HCPN's attitude after the Albany game. He did not seem happy to me. He is either locked in which is awesome or for as vanilla and basic as we played he was not happy with everything. I hope it was the second. I love when we can play pretty decent and still have alot of room for improvement. He said it, they will be better in week 2 and that makes me super excited.
Something that we have not talked about alot all off season was what I thought really was great great sign in the Miami game last year. The D line got their hands up. They batted alot of balls out of the air. Given that McSorley is only 6' tall we should push that idea all game. Our D line I hope is gonna ball out but I love getting hands on passes. Anything can happen, so I hope we really push that hard this week.
Also I believe our coaches will try and help the safety's . If you watched the FSU/VT game last night you heard Herbie say in this Defense ( to which FSU is now running) the way to attack it is throw to the seams and pick on the safety. I cannot express how much I hope Campbell is back for this reason. We cannot have Briggs getting smoked all day. However I expect there to be some wrinkles from HCPN and Bates to limit this plan of attack.
