PITT great Teryl Austin is interviewing with the Giants and Browns and looks to be set on becoming a HC. I personally would rather see him in NY even with the much more scrutinizing media. Cleveland is a graveyard for coaches!

Unfortunately, I fear Austin is an unintended victim of the Rooney Rule. He will be on everyone's shortlist for an interview, thus satisfying the Rule, but the more times he does and doesn't get hired, he'll slip farther back in the pack. I'm pulling for him and think The Eagles would be wise to consider him (and keep Shurmur as OC...)
Hot Coaching Commodity that Steve Pederson would not consider for Pitt? He will be a Head Coach soon somewhere in NFL or CFB! Teryl was a great recruiter for Michigan too!
Isn't it funny that he is never good enough for Pitt. Pitt hires Graham, Chryst, and Narduzzi but not a proven coach like Austin. Anybody wanna guess why ?
No guess.....Teryl was implicated in the "problems" of the Gottfried era staff. He was a really good player for Pitt, has a long resume'.

Heck, he's coached one year of college ball since 2003.
If his name was Mel Marlboro and he went to Western Kentucky, would you be wanting him as a coach?
I was always hoping before Austin would be Pitt HC... but he always made too much. Now compensation is outta control and things are nuts.

Pitt self-reported recruiting violations, got slapped on the wrist. All that just added fuel to the Killer "B"s to squelch FB.
A.D. Bozik an Assitant Chancellor was made A.D with no experience in Athletics unlike Cas!
Pitt was invited to Big East Basketball in 1985 and had some violations with Boosters to upgrded Pitt BB Recruiting & Players.
It moved to Football, when a Gottfried's Assistant was working with Boosters that created 22 minor NCAA Violations like paying a player to wear a promotional jacket as growing Nike were paying coaches for Shoe Contracts that started with Paterno.
It was investigated, and nothing could be proven, but re-open in 1990s and Pitt found out and out its own Self-Imposed a Bowl Ban for Two Years reduced scholarships, and NCAA did not investigate just accepted that as Self-Imposed Sanction.
Later Bozik had to resign too, when it was discovered a Former Golden Panther Head was hired by Bozik as an Athletic Department Employee and he had forged some checks to pay off a gaming debt!
Pitt joined Big East Few Years Later For Football, but did not regain winning until Chancellor Nordenberg took over and re-established Pitt Sports Programs!
