Today went horribly, head hunting sucks, but what a great season, very memorable.

Only third team to win against 2 top 5 teams, and won 8 despite injuries, huge holes from bad recruiting in years past, and just bad luck.

Will be great to see this team grow.

By the way, FUN experience today! Great turnout by Pitt fans. Northwestern side was barren, if we stayed healthy we would have won going away. (or if Astons TD was called a TD)

Once the dust settles the PSU and Clemson wins showed what this program can do. I'm excited for the future.

DJ going down was a real blow too.

Speaking of blow, good to see Blewitt not around to miss so many FGs. Hope that part of the game improves. All in all though, very good season.

8-5 with wins at Clemson and PS. Any knowledgeable fan would have taken that at the beginning of the year.

Why the need to rag on our All Time leader & the Clemson kick alone should put Blewitt into Pitt lore. What do you call a successful career if you cannot be thankful for a kid w/ his numbers ?

H2 PITT !!!

He made 2 big kicks, and should and will be forever in Pitt lore. But lets not confuse the fact that he played in far more games than his peers and kicked PATs for our most prolific offenses confuse the facts that at best he is an average kicker

I liked the kid too, but I think I will appreciate him much more next year when whoever we get to replace him misses a bunch

KB was one of the most unique players in program history. Lots of exasperating moments, but probably the best clutch kicker the program has seen.

"Recruitsreadtheseboards, post: 1740244, member: 2328"]Seriously, how in the hell is an 8-5 season, "great"? Come on. Get over yourselves trying to be overly positive. If 8-5 is great, then you suck. Really suck. It is like rewarding the slow kid for pissing in the toilet and calling him brilliant.
It was an improvement and another step forward in Rebuilding the Program. Unlike under previous Coaches these Players believe in the Coaches and show it by playing every game all 4 Quarters. These Players love and have fun playing at Pitt under Coach Pat Narduzzi & Staff and Coaches love being at Pitt too. As many other Sports Writers have written Pitt was the Best 8-5 Season so far this season. The Team took another step to improving again even with 5 close losses. WVU went 10-3 but not competitive against OU, OKSU, and Miami and far easier Schedule.

1. Coach Pat & Staff Only Second Year.
2. Another New OC That Made Pitt Offense Set Team & NCAA Records.
3. Pitt Was In Every Game & Lost Only One Game By More Than 7 Points.
4. Defense Stopped Run Most Times & Still Kept Players Redshirts.
5. Pitt Beat Two Conference Champions.
6. Pitt Played Ranked Teams Clemson, PSU, OKSU, VT, Miami, UNC.
7. Pitt Added Three Consensus All Americans.
8. Unlike Last year No Blowout Bowl Game.
9. Pitt Made Top 25 Playoff Rating.
10. Pitt Players Focus On & Off Field No Problems & Up Against Top QBs

The only disappointment was losing the Bowl Game due to key injuries and once again, that will keep Pitt out of the Final Top 25. Along with Defense giving up Passing Yards all year long with a breakdown on stopping the run the last 2 games.

The Coaches & Players cannot wait to prepare for next year and the Player's Camaraderie has not been seen in years since the 1980s.

When Johnny Majors took over in 1973 even with 90 Recruits for Two Seasons before the NCAA set 25 a Year Limit he struggled Rebuilding the attitude and performance of his Teams going:
Major's Rebuilding Era:
1973 6-5-1 Lost Bowl Game
1974 7-4 No Bowl Game
1975 8-4 Won Bowl Game
1976 12-0 Won NCS!

Harris's Rebuilding Era:
1997 6-6 Bowl Lost

1998 2-9
1999 5-6

2000 7-5 Bowl Lost

Wannstedt's Rebuilding Era:

2005 5-6
2006 6-6
2007 5-7
2008 9-4 Bowl Win

Pederson Coaching Musical Chairs Era:

2011 6-7 Haywood-Graham-Patterson Bowl Lost
2012 6-7 Chryst Bowl Lost

2013 7-6 Chryst Bowl Win
2014 6-7 Chryst-Rudolph Bowl Lost

Narduzzi Rebuilding Era:
2015 8-5 Bowl Lost

2016 8-5 Bowl Lost

I call that an improvement and even at 8-5 showed major changes in attitude, performances, and all year long. This was indeed an improvement on top of last year and with a far harder schedule against exceptional QBs, Coaches, Teams, and Players. Everyone that played Pitt knew they were in tough games.

If others want to differ, so be it, and if they can't see it, so be that too!

Cap....I understand. Let's not throw the word "great" around. It was a Fun season. A Thrilling season. A Good season, considering the schedule and the close losses. We were competitive. But not great. Great is not the right word.

I'll give you "good" season, Stache. I have to disagree on "great."
Poor coaching decision not to make adjustments in the secondary coverage cost Pitt multiple games. Coaches decided to force their system on cornerbacks not capable of playing that type of game instead of adjusting the system to better fit the skills of their players. It was bull-headed and likely cost Pitt two or three games. Win those and it is a GREAT season.
Pitt's victory at Clemson was without question the best win by any D-1 team in the country this season. But let's not fool ourselves on the PSU win by claiming Pitt beat two Top 5 teams. PSU was unranked and not very good at the time. Same could probably be said for Pitt. There was virtually no interest in the game outside the state of Pennsylvania. The fact that both teams improved enough to climb into the rankings later in the season doesn't change the fact it was a low level game at the time it was played.

Semantics is always a challenge, but if one reads the Player's Comments and how they talk about the differences they experienced under other previous Coaches and all the fun they did have Great is up to them.

WVU: 10-3
1. 10 Wins With 3 Blowouts?
2. No Wins Against Ranked Teams?
3. No Conference Title?
4. Blown Out In Bowl?
5. Far Easier Schedule?
6. No Consensus All Americans?
7. Holgrosen's 6th Year?
8. Holgrosen Has An Established Program Unlike Pitt?
9. Holgrosen Had many Of his Senior Players back?
10. Does anyone think if Holgrosen had to play Pitt Schedule, he would have gone 10-3? Might as well be Western Michigan?

Pitt Fans have not witness an Offense that Great in their History. Defense was was opposite but even then barely 5 plays away from 12-1!

If one can't see the difference in coaching not a problem with those that differ, but Pitt and Pitt Players had a better season in my book!

Well, agree to disagree, I think beating Clemson is great, and any season we paste our rivals is a great season.

I dont think scheme was our main issue, our main issue was lack of good players playing against some of the best passing offenses in the country. The D gave up a ton of yards, but I liked the hard hitting and hussle we showed. We had worse defenses over the years in my opinion. We got a consistent pass rush, stopped the run and had to deal with a ton of injuries.

It was a good season, and an enjoyable season with two great wins. I don't think I would call 8-5 a great season.

It was a very odd season in that our offense was far better than anyone could have possibly hoped for going into the year. At the same time, our defense made me want to puke on a weekly basis. I liked the fight and spirit in this team. Although I will look on 2016 favorably, I still feel we missed a golden opportunity to win the Coastal.

Definitely the most enjoyable season since 2009.

8-5. Out of the top 25 (well behind Western Michigan). Same Old Pitt. It's all about W's.

Well, I loved this season, very enjoyable and the best season Ive seen in awhile. Love the direction of this coaching staff. Really like Duzz and the staff, and the younger kids look to be athletic and fast

Nope it is still about learning to improve to win more each year too and it does not happen over night and Pitt improved from last year, if you are correct then Western Michigan should be in the Playoffs with 13-0 wins?

WVU beat not one ranked Team and blown out by 3 teams, at 10-3 if you call that Progress, then so be it, i call it Lame in a Conference with just 4 Winning Teams!
