Here's the solution. Don't rely on graduate transfers. Recruit capable, high school bodies.

I'd play Wilson at the 2 or move Artis there and play a zone almost exclusively. Our 2 guard production is actually reason 1 we are struggling. Smith can't defend at this level and has become non existent on the offensive end.
Smith can't do anything at this level , I'm sick of Artis right now making boneheaded plays every game at crucial points as well as his non chalant attitude about defense , young as well

Smith needs benched. Wilson is clearly the better option and at least Jones tries to make plays and tonight he did.

Again... when has he ever played defense? Or box-out for that matter? And why isn't that the responsibility of the coaching staff to teach and drill the fundamentals to their players so they become second-nature? Unless the players have tuned-out the screaming coach? Hmmm....

Artis likes to talk about defense in the press conferences after the games but he never plays any.
I remember getting attacked on this board for getting on Artis for his comments before the Syracuse game, and saying that he reminded me of Cam Wright.
Until Dixon wants to hold players accountable for their play and reward them for the behavior he wants,. he is going to keep seeing this type of play from his more experienced players.

It looked like Jamie sat guys tonight for not playing defense. (Artis, Young, Jeter and Robinson) sat more than they did all season.

Souf is just a contrarian/antagonist, not part of any click. Over on the football board, everybody loves Narduzzi and Souf keeps picking fights with anybody who says anything good about him. He even said this year's class was similar to a Chryst class of 2 star MAC recruits. He's on thin ice over there.
Kiwi and Harve and a few others are the great defenders. Used to be DT too but he is becoming more of a realist.
I think kiwi is also becoming a realist. NTOP should replace kiwi, that guy will defend Dixon no matter what he does.

Agree, he works hard, but he's overwhelmed in these conf games and nowhere near the shooter some said he was.

I have always been a realist/pragmatist. Like I said, I don't criticize specific people, I criticize stupid ideas, which generally come from stupid people. But I have never attacked negative posts that were not stupid. Showing SMF's stupidity further, he sees calling out dumb ideas as defending Jamie. Those are two distinct actions, though they occasionally can overlap.
Easy is an understatement. You have no desire to play basketball if you can't come down with that.
