Nice article and thanks Chris! Remembering back to the mid to late 70s and early 80s we were dominant and kicked butt for sure.

On to your ???? on who will lead the team in tackles. I am thinking that given the attention due to the front 4 up front, I am going with Pine in the middle. We shall see!

thanks for the article. but i just can't help myself from posting about jackie's forms of motivation.

The bull was castrated by its owner on the practice field in the week before the Sept. 5 game. Mississippi State won the game, 28-10.
Sherrill said the castration served two purposes.
″One is educational. That’s probably the biggest reason,″ he said.
The other was motivating his team. Asked how a bull’s castration would motivate his players, he said, ″That’s everybody’s different perception.″

Think I'm wrong? What PGH sports media types have moved on to bigger and better gigs?

Good points! The only sports person from Pgh that went onto a better gig is Rand......at least in recent memory and he did not write things but just reporting.

Nah...this is a really good effort...far above what most PGH sports media are capable of writing.

Proof is in the pudding. The late Myron Cope often wrote for SI. These clowns couldn't write for the school newspaper.
