Did any of you highly qualified football officiating critics notice that our corners were prison raping the VT outside receivers on literally every single pass rep, 95% of which were not called? Didn't think so.
How about the fact that we are coming off a bye week yet lined up in the neutral zone, jumped offsides, false started and held like it was our first scrimmage of the season? Can we blame that on the refs as well?
How about going 3 and out while we were behind early in the 4th quarter on a critical possession, in which all the creative play calling that got us back in the game apparently went out the window, and we ran the ball twice for -3 yards before nearly throwing a pick on 3rd and impossible? Refs again?
How about when T. Webb, who wouldn't do a D3 safety credit, dropped an easy pick at our goal line with VT going in? That would've saved the game for us, as it was an easy play. Threw it right into his breadbasket and it bounced off his hands like they were cinder blocks. A play that HAD TO BE MADE. Refs fault?
How about the fact that our punter can't get 35 yards on 2 4th Q attempts with the wind at his back?
We were just lucky that VT stupidly kept trying to run the ball in the red zone, or this one would have been over in the first quarter.
We showed some flashes and James Conner was awesome. But we played really poorly in all phases of the game, for too much of the game, to win. So many mental mistakes, self-inflicted wounds, and coming off a bye week no less. Not Narduzzis finest moment, and he spent half the game raving like a lunatic just to make it worse. Meanwhile his corners could have been called for PI on every single pass play.
